Intake sound (spooling and bov) question - AMS & ETS
Hi guys, i recently finished installing and writing my comparison review for the ETS and AMS intakes.
The ETS comes with a much bigger air filter, it was so big most of us were really looking forward on how the car will sound upon completion. We finished my friend's AMS first, and everyone were impressed on how the car sounded on both the spooling and how the bov sounded (mini HKS minus the wheezing, very very nice), and everyone was looking forward for the ETS.
During the ETS (mine) test drive, the car spooled really loud (slightly louder than the AMS) but during the throttle release, it came out as a pretty unexpected weak "psssh." The bov sound can be heard more compared to stock, but judging from the larger filter and louder spooling, we were quite confused how did the Bov sound came out to be so imbalanced, it was so much softer than that of AMS
Both were stocks other than the intakes and runs great, and i actually took more time installing the ETS. im just wondering if anyone who may have heard both ETS and AMS intakes noticed the same differences in terms of the sound as we do?
Thanks in advance!

I know it doesnt matter to some, but i was really looking forward to that bov sound wihtout further modding or replacing the bov to an aftermarket ones
(and slightly annoyed that my friend's AMS sounded nicer...)
And back to topic lol, anyone heard both intakes side by side?

It's the plumbing. The AMS blowback plumbing is closer to the filter. The ETS is further down the intake tube. If u look at both intakes closely, the BOV plumbs back almost to the elbow (going down to the turbo) of the intake tube on the ETS where the AMS blows back on the "straight" part of the tube.
I haven't heard AMS or ETS back to back, but simple comparison of the tubes and the notion of sound waves can easily be deduced from that.
And seriously, patience goes a long way.

I had the some thoughts, it just that me being a newb need to kinda hear it from someone else. Guess im stuck with my friend's consistent bov drive by during our drives...
Thanks for clarifying Panda
Don't know about that. Even with TBE installed, my ETS intake is loud as ****. You can easily hear the intake suck in air even when all the windows up and full throttle.
I seriously don't care how my X sounds. Most of people with Evo's are not into ricing the crap out of them
I'll still take an ETS intake any day, can't beat their price and quality.
