no more warranty sir cus i bought it in the gray market.. Here in the Philippines, mitsubishi doesnt carry the Evo X... oh well so even if you go to the dealership there isnt much after sales support.. anyway the lights didnt come out today either.. could that be a fault on the sensors??

You sure it was the timing chain warning light and not the ASC light?

The evo has a warning when the chain is at 60% to the service limit.. seems a bit early in the cars life for that though.. if you are really paranoid, you can pull the valve cover and inspect it.

Musta

Best thing to do since Mitsubishi in PH don't even sell the EVO X yet alone know how to work on it is to order the upgraded chain online and have a trusted local shop switch out the chain.
Just to be on the safe side.

I'd be very interested in learning how that sensor works. I wonder if it goes off strictly on mileage or is it tied into a tensioner/indler or something like that?

It's based on the position of the tensioner or idler. Definitely not mileage.

Clearly makes sense. I was really just wondering if it was an actual sensor or just a glorified idiot light.

Exclamation ewwww....

I had the same issue. Every now and again it came back but never noticed a difference. Then new years morning my gf and I went to leave her sister and as soon as the car started, motor sounded like a chainsaw. Also kept stalling. Got it towed to sendell mitsubishi in greensburg pa and the said the timing chain was streched and it bent all my valves. Compression was at 60-65 on each cylindee when it should be around 120. Tried to void my warranty due to lack of oil reciepts. Always changed my own oil. Always before due. Called south park mistubishi in pittsburgh area and they fought to get it covered. Alls is covered now but, still waiting. Should be done this week. Point being, get it checked asap befor more damage is done.

Hey guys 2 weeks or so and still hasnt come out. Driving it hard and no warning sign... Should I still worry or?... Should i just let it pass? The problem is, i ordered the upgraded chain in an online shop in the US.. I think itll be a month or so before I can get it here.. Anyway what am i supposed to do now? Haha.

well

If I were you.... Actually, no matter who I was id still put the new timing chain on asap. Do not want more engine damage than needed. Do not ignore the light. I did and thank god for warranties. Just drive another car for awhile or if you need to drive the one your speaking of, do so lighty and as less often as need be.
