Thinking about picking up a test pipe and downpipe!
Hey EvoM,
So I'm picking up an AMS single exit catback. Might also pick up an AMS test pipe and AMS Wide Mouth DP.
I'm wondering if i need a tune if i get them.
Thanks!

Meh.. I assumed so. I'll most likely just get it another time then and tune them all at the same time.
If you have a wide band gauge you can watch to make sure the car doesn't go to lean. My mods are listed in my signature. I just took my cat off and put a tp on right in the hight of the Chicago land winter. Yes boost can spike higher, you definitely feel a power difference. But the most that can happen is you will hit fuel cut and loose boost. I've done numerous wot pulls and my afr stayed between 10.0-10.6. You can drive for a while and have some fun with out a tune, but would get one eventually. I'm sure someone will bash me, but I've never had a problem with my car. Car is still pulling stronger than ever
. But I am planning to throw on a ets dp, Grimm speed 3 port and have boostin tune my car in the near future

This is bad advice, and the fact that your car is still pulling isn't a good measure of what could be happening. Many people thought that until their engine failed. A lot more can happen than "hit fuel cut and lose boost". Your engine can knock without the built in ECU knock protection able to control it fast enough or well enough to prevent damage. This is the most common cause of engine damage on Evos and other turbo cars, knock. A full TBE, especially with an AMS style widemouth downpipe and a test-pipe or race cat can create very lean conditions, and besides what you see on a wideband (AFR) or boost gauge, affect timing. You must always get a tune with mods like this, especially on an Evo X. Xs are much more sensitive to exhaust and intake mods than 8s and 9s.
