Another evo x transfer case story

Hello everyone,

I have a 2009 Evo X GSR, with 20,000miles on the clock. A few weeks ago I started getting the dreaded 'death whine'. The car sounded supercharged/like an aeroplane. It started instantly after a auto x session.

It was louder in lower gears but I think that is just because the car is quieter at slower speeds but as soon as I touched the throttle you could hear it clearly.

Anyways I took it to my local dealer and they confirmed that I would need a complete new transfer case. Good news is, they replaced it under warranty! I know some of you may not consider this post thread worthy but I am just so happy I am one of the lucky few that got some use out of their Mitsu warranty

edit: car is completely stock so warranty should of held anyway but still, we all know what mitsu are like!

I don't know the back story on these issues, but what generally causes this?

Mine was over-filled from the factory.

Good to hear that they made it right for you. Sucks that it only lasted 20,000 miles though :/

Getting ready to do the tranny fluid on my car to help with the notchy shifting. Gonna double check the transfer case fluid levels while I'm at it.
