Please post if you have had transfer case problems with evo, i need your help !
Well i had my evo since it was brand new and at 20,000 miles the t case started to whine. They replaced it under warranty with no issues. A few thousand miles later it started to whine again and now the battle with Mitsu begins. They are being very heistant to even do it again. They are saying no, the executive service rep said the shouldnt have done it in the first place. So basically im asking for your help to help prove to them that this is more than a problem with just one or two cars. I really need your help
Hmm... given your post history...
Many suggest using stock fluids in the T-case...
...sounds like you were working on your launch quite a bit...
Did you keep the stock fluid in your t-case after having it replaced?
If I worked for Mitsu, I wouldn't replace the transfer case on a modded car twice. I'd say you got pretty lucky your first time around.
Well i have 19,000 miles, lots of launches and track use and after changing to the redline fluids everything was 10 times better than before. I would much rather use the redline than the stock...
I ran a 12.6 @ 110mph, hope to get low 12's this weekend. My sixty foots werent what thye should of been, but was getting there at the end of the day.

No i didnt use redline in the t case as to the responses from many compaines. And geez i didnt know the evo was built to not be driven, mitsu sure seems to think you should drive the heck out of it but not expect to cover warranty coverage. 0 to 60 in 4.8 sec. high performance car blah blah blah but it you do any of that it voids the warranty.

I got the same problem, but I am not even going to fight Mitsu over it right now cause I KNOW my damage is from hard driving. What I want to know is doesn anyone have an idea of what changing the transfer case will cost? I actually want to see if I can get an RS front LSD and throw in when I fix the T case and call it george. I know I will have to ditch the ABS but oh well....

his clutch should of broken first, unless his got an aftermarket one, not his T-case. Right?
If you don't launch, what's the fun of having a sports car? I launch the hell out of mine, especially when a supercharged z28 wants to go. (I don't race.)

I agree it's fun, it's fun as hell, but it's not made specifically for that. You have AWD so hardly any wheel spin so the driveline has to suck up all the stress. Go around the board and look, people who launch and race break stuff, those who don't...don't. Just your preference I guess, but if you launch it, you will break it.
As has been stated here many times before...
It's not that you can't drive the car hard but, launching a car with AWD is certainly going to shorten the lifespan of drivetrain components.
AWD is not designed for launches, it's mainly for better grip in dusty/wet conditions.
The incredible stress that normally goes to the rear tires (and makes them spin) in a RWD car, goes to the t-case, tranny, clutch etc. in an AWD car.

You can have alot of fun in a car without launching it!
You can take your car on a race track or do autocrossing events.
The real joy of driving is in the actual driving, turning, and braking.
If what you really wanted was a good, fast launching car maybe you bought the wrong car.

I understand if you drive it normally and things break, then the manufacturer should fix it. But if you race it and things break, you shouldn't blame it on defect. As many knows, you have to pay if you want to play. Just my opinion.
