QTP test pipe
Hey guys,
I've done some searching but havent come up with much for the X. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the qtp test pipe? it is a direct bolt on test pipe with the electronic qtp cutout already installed in it. I currently have a test pipe installed and am running a cobb stage 2 tune. I was wondering if i would have to get tuned to run this or not.
any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hello there. Although I don't have experience using QTP's products on my Evo X, I have used them before in the past with other cars and I have had friends run them on their Evo 8's & 9's.
As of now, QTP has a 3" Y-downpipe with an electric cut out bolted up available as a bolt-on part for the Evo 8 & 9. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem they have a pre-fabricated downpipe available for the X. However, you can buy their kit in the desired size available and a competent shop should be able to weld in the Y-pipe in an appropriate place and wire up the controller.
As for tuning, I would seriously consider getting tuned immediately because it would be hard to know for sure how much the Air/Fuel ratios will change when driving around and you don't want to risk damaging the engine if the cutout makes the engine run excessively rich or lean. It may be worthwhile to consult a professional tuner to see if they have experience with these cutouts and the implications it has for tuning. I didn't have issue with mine in the past, but that doesn't mean it will be problem free on the Evo X's.
