I think you answered your own question man. A new turbo and cams! I would consider the fp mhi turbo, fp green, or ef 2.5. I am not sure about cams. Good luck!

Has anybody popped the new cmc that comes with the recall yet?

I hoped I was gonna be alright without an aftermarket cmc.
My post-recall CMC is doing fine. Though I only have 3K miles on my car total, 2K with the new CMC. Seems like a good fix.

My tuner was recommending an fp black turbo. I just wanted to do everything in small stages. I am hoping to do the turbo and a set of GSC S2's this fall, but nothing is for sure. I am probably looking at a crap ton just for all of that. Plus I don't know the first thing about getting a block built so I can have a "truly reliable" daily driver. Thank you for all of the feedback!
If you'd consider less peak HP than an FP Black, the MHI turbo might be all you need/want for a "truly reliable" DD without having to build the block. Just food for thought...

I have heard this so many times and it just holds true:

Establish a whp goal and build with parts that match the goal. That first part being the Turbo. Pick a turbo and match parts to it.

If you don't want to build your motor yet then going Ef-4, black might be a bit risky for your motor. People run them but it is certainly scary. You will get the same whp few hundred rpm later spool than a slightly smaller turbo like mentioned above. Equals smaller power band.

My Ef-4 arrives next week, but I doubt it will go in until I can build my motor. People have blown their motors with smaller turbos too, but this is my logic.

Hey, I wasn't trolling sales for the manifold. Just giving some Picture feedback that may otherwise not be out there.

I was really just hoping to see other feedback on it. Good or bad.

The story behind that manifold it quite long. I basically bought their cheapest manifold which was <200 shipped. The company messaged me asking what car I was buying it for. I told them my 2.0T Sonata build. I explained that I wasn't 100% it was even going to work (why I bought a cheapo) and they offered me an upgrade for free.

I'm no manifold expert. But I was pleasantly surprised when I got it.

And even more so when I found out I would be able to fit it to my engine with minor changes to bolt holes and gasket.

Not trolling. I'm a bit of a Part Snob myself! I have nothing but the best on my car. But this is a Frankenstein of a turbo build. The first of it's kind in the US. I wanted to be able to base it on an EvoX framed turbo because of the parts support you guys have. So I was targeting the highest grade parts I could find. This just happened to surprise me quite frankly and I decided I would give it a try.

But I certainly contacted MAP and Buschir to see if they had any interest in possibly modifying their flange to mate to my engine. They did entertain the idea, but wanted my car at their shop for some time - I live too far away and needed to do it remotely with the use of my stock gasket to mate the existing manifold to my engine. The downpipe I have room to deal with wherever it wound up to be.

It's possibly when I do go from stock X turbo up to FP/MHI upgrade, I'll likely get myself one of the two mentioned above for the bigger power goals.

But for now, 350whp MAX out of the stock turbo doesn't scare me too much on the budget buy.

I'm still going to have my fabrication guys take a look at these welds and scope the inside to make sure I'm not going to do damage to my X turbo at all.

I appreciate all of the feedback. I have a good bit of saving to do before I can do anything more than my clutch for now. I talked to the shop some more about the turbos that were recommended. I am leaning more towards the FP Black now so as to "future proof" the X. I doubt I will want to make too much more power before the engine is brought up to snuff. Thank you again!

I bet even the stock exhaust manifold give you more power, the only reason i would buy the ebay manifold, is if i was into looks.

Only advice I can give you is make a plan for your goal, figure out what you need, get all your parts and do it all at one time, unless you like throwing money out
