I've looked on this forum, the evoxforum, and the web and can't find an answer to a question. I want to know if I need to do anything more then wipe items off and use air duster to clean the turbo and it's parts? I'm worried that dirt or some particle will make it into my engine. Here is what I did so anyone reading can have some more info if needed to help answer my question. I removed my turbo from the car. I took it somewhat apart (all tubes off, waste gate actuator off, turbine housing off). I left the turbine and the compressor housing/compressor intact. I created an electrolysis tub and dipped my turbine housing to remove rust. I also removed rust from the turbine housing and and waste gate actuator arm with a dremel and sand paper. Then I coated the turbine housing with rustoleum 2000 degree high heat primer and paint (only the outside and all movable parts/openings were covered with tape). I know it might flake but I wanted to try (I will use the curing process while it is on the car). All the tubes (oil feed, oil return, etc..) were wiped down with a cloth and shot through with air duster. Here are some random picks that may help answer my question too. Sorry for the long post. Turbo looks clean but the rustoleum will most likely not hold up. If you want the turbine housing to stay rust free you need to get it ceramic coated. I have a satin black coating that will not flake or chip off, and also acts as a heat barrier to reduce radiant heat from damaging nearby components.
