Upgraded fuel pump needed?
Just wondering if an upgraded fuel pump is needed on an 2014 Evo X MR with bolt ons and 91? Looking to get around 330awhp. Heard they lean out at the top end because it overheats.
It's not really needed. I haven't seen too many people make over 320s on the sst with just bolt ons. Maybe on a dynojet. When I had my x se, I had all the basic bolt ons, tuned on 91 and only made 301whp. That was on a mustang.
I'll agree with above, you might make around 330 on a generous dyno jet with bolt-on MR on 91...but not on a Mustang dyno. Fuel pump isn't really needed until you mod bigger than bolt-ons.
For a comparison, my GSR has all the bolt-ons and a fuel pump (going to turbo soon), and I am at 316whp on the CBRD Mustang dyno, 93 octane. MR generally read a little lower due to the drivetrain.
