2.4l questions
2.4l questions
So I have a BC 2.5l kit in my car and am currently in a rebuild. I did some math and I'm currently at a 2.4l with a 98mm stroke and a 88mm bore. When I took my engine apart I had some really weird issues my rod bearings have a lot of scraping wear... But my main bearings are immaculate... Which leads me to believe that maybe I had some side slap going on. Two of my cylinders I do have some piston melting in my sleeve and visible vertical lines on my piston skirt. I never passed 7500 rpms but now that I'm in a rebuild as stated above and need to go .5 over on my bore so 88.5 which keeps me at a 2.4l but it was suggested to me to possibly go to a lesser stroke crank either OEM or a 94mm. What are your thoughts on this and what are my limitations (as far as rev) if I keep the 98mm stoke (the rods are stock length h beams) also I am putting a 3586r HTA in as well. Let's hear what you guys think

From what I've read, longer rods and longer stroke help prevent side loading but I don't know enough on the topic to be of much help. English Racing and Buschur racing would know more than likely. They also might require you to bring it in to look at it though. Refer to a local shop that you trust for some guidance.
