low oil pressure warning after freeway

when coming to a stop after driving on the freeway or 60+ mph for an extended time I keep getting a low oil pressure warning. The engine doesnt stutter or do anything odd other than the warning. If i turn the car off and let it sit for a minute then start it again the warning doesnt come back on. Even after spirited driving it wont come on, only after doing 60+ for a while then coming to a stop. anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it?

specs: 2013 gsr 8,000miles
AMS DP, 3" testpipe, 3" catback , 4" depo intercooler, full hard pipes, K&N cone filter, grimmspeed 3 port

check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. if oil pressure is ok, replace the oil pressure switch.

I had a similar issue on my 9. It was the pressure switch like the previous poster have said.

It's underneath the intake manifold threaded into the block. There is a bracket that stabilizes the manifold that needs to come off and then it should come out pretty easily.

Get a mechanical gauge and verify the pressure. Its its in spec then replace the sensor. DO NOT drive the car with the oil pressure light on. I had a customer that did some of his own work and left a rag in the oil pan during a re-seal. It got sucked up into the oil pump pickup. The oil pressure light would come on randomly. He kept driving and ended up seizing and snapping a camshaft.

He forgot a rag in the oil pan, sealed it up, and ran it?! That must have been awfully embarrassing for him.

Yep. Clogged the oil pickup after a few miles. Destroyed the whole head.
