sharing my Grinding/notchy shifting method
okay I though I'd share my experience with the evo x. First at the dealer test drove the car (15K on it) didn't notice any grinding and notching, couple weeks went by I started to notice more and more as I get used to the car. so I have done TWM under hood bushing kit, short throw shifter, fluid change to asmoil ( I though the old fluid work better so I change it back to stock MTF) and clutch slave cylinder delete still notchy and grinding. so to prevent it from grinding I have to wait for the RPM to drop then shift this method also make me ride on the clutch, as days goes by I play around and try to determine at what RPM is safe for me to shift. I found that if I'd shift about 2k or 2.5K rmp for both 2nd and 3rd gear it would went in smooth as the rest of the gear. also I found that if I shift between 6k and 7k is would be as smooth as other gears. some where between 2.5k to 6k I have to wait for the RPM/engine stop rev to produce smooth shifting. so as of now I've been using 2k rpm method of shifting. though I share this and maybe someone out there fine this way also working for them.
yea... i am in the same boat i just tried to switch the redline evo cocktail and i dont think its really any different if anything the factory stuff might have been a little smoother i think.. so next change i will prolly be going back to regular MTF. The one thing that helped a lot for me though was a wighted shift knob. That has made the shifts waaaaaayyyy better and less notchy!
