got the code this morning on the way to work, car didn't want to go into 2nd or 4th gear so i pulled over turned the car off then restarted it. transmission seem to shift ok now. I looked up the code and it says 4th fork malfunction. I searched it and can't seem to get a straight answer, is the transmission shot? or is it something simple? I have an appointment at mitsubishi tomorrow morning and I'm just worried. Thanks.

 

Definitely wait for someone else to chime in but... Possible glitch? Different car, but my E46 would throw a random trans code 1-2 times a year. All I would have to do is restart it, and it would go away and shift fine again. Never gave me a real problem.

Anyway... Have it looked at, and let us know.
