Aren't there concerns about running too rich or having timing too retarded when you turn the boost down?

This is what a tuner told me today about MBC vs EBC
"Honestly on the stock turbo a manual boost controller is cheaper and works just as well. Cuts 50$ off the tuning as well. I tune a minimum of a few evos a week... some with the 3 port some with manuals... get the same power. The stock turbo is going to drop boost at higher rpm as it runs out of steam u could say.... having the 3 port Grimm speed ebcs doesn't make more power by trying to get the boost to hold more... just creates more heat from the turbo "trying" to force it to hold more boost..... "
