AEM intake/MAF limitations?
AEM intake/MAF limitations?
I live in CA and currently have the AEM intake. I like that it is CARB legal and a box style that ingests cooler air. Not sure of the MAF size that this intake uses but my question is: at what point will this intake become a restriction? Currently running bolt-ons in my sig and plans for IM and small-medium stock frame turbo in the future. Bottom end will remain stock for quite a while. Not looking for 500+ WHP. Will the AEM be ok with say a FP red? Also, I know I need the bigger 3" turbo inlet pipe such as the Cobb unit if I get the red, that 3" pipe will work with the current MAF and AEM box correct?
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
I use an fp red on my evo with the aem kit. It didn't fit perfectly, the od of both the fp inlet and aem inlet are 3" which meant I needed to use a silicone coupler to join them on the outside of both with a 3" piece of pipe on the inside of the aem rubber pipe to make it a snug fit.
I'm running 500whp according to virtual Dyno so it hasn't caused me any issues yet.
