Ets open dump downpipe on stock evo/tune

Hey guys I remember reading a thread about someone putting a 02 dump on a stock tuned evo and said it was okay since it will lean the car a bit to actually perform better since I know the evo runs rich as hell stock, is this true? Since ima put mine on along with a drop in filter, thanks!

I have no facts to back this up but I've always been told, anytime you open up the exhaust flow, you need a tune immediately.

I let my tuner shop install it and tune it right then and there. I would not want to risk blowing up a brand new car.

I way I see it tho, by dumping the o2 the car should run a bit leaner and actually help the car not run as rich, thus helping it perform, since our cars run super rich from the factory, hence all the black smoke when we step on it

Since OP already knows all about Evo modifications, he just need us to give him a warm a fuzzy feeling inside about his decision.

I'm still going to tune it, that's not the issue. Just didn't wanna tune until I had my fuel pump and injectors. But I can always monitor afrs and fuel trims and adjust them accordingly

IMO, I would rather collect all the parts and install altogether + tune.

Aside from the bottleneck at the catalytic converter and the possible cel from the rear o2, I wouldn't worry about much more than that.

You can do what you want, but I would recommend against it. The safer and better thing to do is get it tuned after. Probably get a few parts together, install then tune. Or have an AP and use one of the stage maps thats right for the boltons you put on. Now, you can drive it with the parts installed, but I wouldnt recommend going full throttle without somesort of tune.

You have my vote man. I give it a thumbs up 👍🏻 Its a slight pain in the butt if you don't have a lift. You gonna install it yourself?
