EvoX no tune with AMS test pipe & Vibrant "CEL FIX" spacer
EvoX no tune with AMS test pipe & Vibrant "CEL FIX" spacer
Hi, guys and girls
Iv recently purchased an AMS test pipe & Vibrant CEL FIX spacer.
I'm currently purchasing all my bolt on parts before I begin tuning.
I've just done a quick 30min research throughout this forum and evoxforums in regards of installing a Test pipe WITHOUT tuning. There has been much debate and I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death.
I have seen majority would argue DO NOT INSTALL without tuning since it causes lean AFR & throws CEL codes etc. Especially on the 2010+ modals (facelift) which run more lean compared to the (pre-facelift) 2007-2009 modals .I own a 2012 facelift JDM modal.
However my question is.... Would it be safe to install the AMS test pipe WITHOUT tuning BUT with the Vibrant spacer? When I mean safe I mean WOT on factory boost all the way up to 7000rpm. If it is not safe to WOT on boost then I would not bother installing it at all until I have all my bolt on's ready to tune.
My aim at the moment is to make some safe gains from bolt on's that I would require in the very near future anyways. Iv seen in other threads people have mentioned several times "get a tune to make the most gains". Just to clarify I'm not trying to make the most out of my bolt on's quite yet I'm just after some quick safe gains for the mean time until I'm ready to tune.
There is tones of threads in regards to both vibrant spacer and test pipes. But Iv found nothing that has helped me with my question.Wether or not it would be safe if I used the Vibrant spacer with the test pipe to trick the Ecu into thinking Iv still got the factory cat.
If anyone has any information or advice I would be much appreciated for your input.
Thanks

Instaling tp with the spacer is only going to prevent u from throwing a code, it will not prevent u from over boosting afr's being off etc... Driving the car at wot throttle with any mod that changes amount of fuel or air flow without a tune is just not a good idea! A drop in filter is fine and will net u a few extra ponys! Do that for now and wait untill u have saved up enough funds for a tune! Let her breathe! there is a ton of info on the site just search! A tbe, open air intake system,3 port boost sylonide and pro tune will make a night and day difrance!
The only bolt-ons you can get really get away with without having a tune would be a drop-in filter and a cat-back exhaust. Anything else that really changes the flow will need a tune.
So, I'd suggest waiting until you at least get your catback/intake/EBCS before getting your tune. Those items will certainly waken up the car.
