Really Strange problem. AWD/Outside temp sensor?

So the last couple days, a strange problem has started to happened. Sometimes when I'm driving my AWD needs service message will randomly come on, and the outside temperature disappears. Then all of a sudden it will start reading the outside temp again and the message goes away. The two are always tied together. Sometimes when I first get in the car, and just turn the car to the power on position, before actually starting the car, the temperature won't be there and I know that as soon as I start the engine, the AWD service message will be on. Then it will randomly start reading outside temp and be working again. While this happens I can't choose my tarmac/gravel modes, just like if my pump was gone, but all of a sudden my outside temp starts reading and the AWD message disappears. Nothing has been done to the car to trigger this.

Mileage? Year? Have you ever had the pump replaced? How often does it happen?

I had something similar happen. Would flash back and forth. At first, once in a while. Then more often. Took it to the dealer and sure enough, it was the pump.

The car is an 08 with about 70k miles. The only thing that is weird is that it seems to be tied to the outside temperature reading. Like I said before, if my outside temperature is working no issues. Then all of a sudden my outside temperature dissappear and I get an 4wd service light

Yea, the display jumps back and forth when the pump is starting to go. Sooner or later the light will stay on and you won't be able to see the temp reading.

I've been getting this light for a while, I took it to the dealer and they said they couldn't sense that my ambient temperature sensor was there. I looked at the front end and it definitely was there, so they said it's likely broken. I also I'm getting dashes in place of the outside temperature. Is your AC still working? Mine also just stopped working, I'm not sure if it's related or not. I'm trying to source and ambient temperature sensor locally to test to see if that fixes it
