Passenger rear diff axel seal leaking

So I searched the threads but didn't find anything so if this has already been answered please hook up the link so I don't waste anyone's else's time. My passenger side rear diff axel seal has residue all over it so I'm guessing the seal has gone bad. I bought another one so I'm asking if anyone else has replaced this as well and how was the job? I've replaced the clutch twice so far so I'm familiar with taking out the axel's up front so are the rear the same and do I need to drain my diff fluid? Lastly a friend of mine told me that when he replaced his seal on his neon srt that he had to put the seal in perfect the first time or it would rip trying to get it out to try again. Idk. Any advise would help before I jump into project.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, rear axles come out same as the front. And yes, make sure the seal goes in straight. A seal driver is your friend.
