Turbo removal

Best way to remove turbo. Pulling engine out or keeping it in? People saying there are hard bots to reach.

You dont need remove engine. Manifold, down pipe and Testpipe or HFC.

Here is DIY. This helped me ton.

Youtube is a good friend. Depends how many miles is on there, Buy new studs, bolts, hardware. The hardware gets old and welded together from the heat. Threads turn into ****.

A torch is a good friend when removing exhaust side bolts.

Be sure to saturate everything with PB blaster the night before you’re planning on doing the removal. A good size breaker bar will help too.

Agreed. The damn bracket bolts are the absolute worst.

Use a shallow socket with a wobble socket extension to remove this bolt easier... unfortunately I've had my turbo on and off my car about 10 times, so I'm a little accustomed to removing these hard to reach bolts.

That's what I did too. The first initial removal of the stock turbo was the worst. Once all the bolts were off I put anti-seize of everything. Now the removal isn't that bad anymore.

Yup. Do yourself a huge favor too and buy a thread chaser for the turbo bolts. Clean the threads and inspect ALL bolts prior to reinstalling. You will thank yourself for doing it in the case of future removal.
