Knocking sound at 3-4k rpm
Knocking sound at 3-4k rpm
So I've get this annoying rattle best describe like a knocking noise, I haven't been able to replicate the sound unless I'm driving. I can't seem to pin down exactly where it's coming from. I've tried to make it do it while sitting still with the car out of gear by raising the rpms but it wont do it. Only when I'm in gear going down the road and it will do it in any gear at about 3-4rpm when under slight acceleration or deceleration. The sound appears to come from somewhere under the hood on the driver's side but it's hard to tell. The only thing I can think of at this point is maybe my flywheel is loose or something. I'd really hate to tear apart the car to check it and that not be it. I will upload a video of the sound. Following the post. Any help would be appreciated. Before I go taking the car apart. Lol.
I jacked the car up with all 4 wheels off the ground and checked for any play in the front of the car all the motor and transmission mounts seem to be tight.

Check for anything loose in the engine bay and tighten it down, check everything. Even the headlamps. I had 2 bolts break on my headlamps and that made a horrible rattle noise. Give your exhaust/dp a wiggle and see if it taps anything. I wouldn’t go tearing anything down until you rule everything else out.

Yes actually I did, I ended up putting a twin disc in my X and when I did in the process of taking the car apart I found that one of the bolts on the rear transmission mount had a bolt that rusted out and broke lose. Right on the metal bracket that sits ontop of the subframe. So it was vibrating, so I just drilled it out cleaned out the rust and ran a longer bolt through the mount and the subframe. Problem solved. Lol.
Good job bud.
Would you please look at this thread and see if it's the same issue? I've attached a video too.
It's my thread.
