Question Walbro 450 upgrade questions

Hey fellas,

I have the MAP E85 500+ hp fuel pump kit ready to install that comes with the Walbro 450. I have three questions:

1. I understand I need to drill out the return syphon housing if I hardwire the pump, is there a recommended size? I've read a huge range of sizes, should it be 5/64, 3/32, or something bigger?
2. Am I fine to pull out the tiny inline fuel filter if I'm adding an external inline fuel filter, to avoid future clogging?
3. If I use a HOBBS switch to trigger a relay for high power (at, say, 7 PSI) and retain the factory low/high power for operation below that, do I need to drill out the housing?

Thanks.

These are all questions I wouldn’t mind knowing too, I’ve read a lot of mixed info about it all and I don’t know what’s best

I'm not an X guy but I can chime in with my knowledge from the 8/9 platform.

1) I have read lots of sizes too but the most common one I have seen is 5/64.
2) I would think you'd be fine to remove the filter. I know a few guys run a larger, higher micron one near the pump and then a smaller, lower micron one up near the injectors. I personally just have 1 large filter near the pump.
3) This is the setup I run on my 9. I have a double pumper (2x 255s) and the second pump is hardwired via a hobbs switch and a relay. If you retain the high/low setup of the stock pump, I don't believe you would need to drill the siphon.

Again, I'm not an X guy so take my answers with a grain of salt but I figured I could try and help a little.

I believe a lot of the stuff you just said applies to the X as well. Thank you

I highly recommend saving some headache and getting the radium hanger with new venturi and getting a fuel pump controller.
