fuel pump/filter

hey, i was wondering if it's okay to reuse the stock fuel filter from the stock fuel pump on the walbro 255 lph fuel pump. the reason i ask this is bc the new fuel filter kit that came with the pump is different then the stock one. the one that came with the kit point up at an angle when install on the fuel pump while the stock ones are straight. so i was kinda hesitant to use it. any advice will be appreciated..
