Any time it comes up the in Evo world, it gets **** on. Apparently it's not a good turbo for us. I don't have any experience with it personally, but it seems to function as a kinda sorta ported oem turbo. Not much gains to be had with it. This is solely based on reading other threads on this turbo.

Yes, I see it is not favored online, unfortunately I already purchased it used on eBay. Although there is not a lot of reviews/information from people online.
Online it says up to 450hp depending on supporting mods. I saw on YouTube someone installed onto a GSR and made 400-410hp. Hoping to be 400-450 and I will be happy.

Thank you RobbieOh, nice to connect with you.

Hmm. Well, let us know how it goes! I do like Tomei as a company so it would be interesting to see how it fares for you.

Yea, should be interesting to see how it performs. A quick look at the specs seems to place it kind of between the MHI 18k and a red wheel size wise.
I don't personally have an X but its always interesting to see how these different turbos look compared to the more common ones.

Wrd, I grew up in Duluth!

Simple bolt on stuff. I'm trying to setup a BST (STU) SCCA autox car. So I'm limited to factory turbo. I do have the Tomei intake and upper IC pipe tho! Really like the intake, that elbow was a pain in the *** install tho!

oh nice, I am in the Lawrenceville/Suwanee area. Yes, I receive the Tomei turbo today, going to start stock piling parts. I need a new turbo manifold because the OEM one keeps on cracking. then maybe a downpipe.

Wrd, my Auntie lives in Lawrenceville. Check out Artec, their manifold and dp! The manifold is expensive but it is the best on the market. This one will be my choice once mine cracks.

I didn't realize you don't have supporting stuff done yet. Make sure you get the downpipe and exhaust sorted before you put the turbo on and tune it. No reason to do it all twice.
Based on your other thread, I would suggest a manifold if yours is cracked, downpipe and full exhaust and possibly an intake; unsure how the X stuff is with that. The fuel side of things seems pretty well sorted as far as I can tell. 1000s and the 340 should be good.

Hey Ryan,
I appreciate your response. Here is a breakdown of all the mods on the car.

AEM Cold Air Intake
1000 Injector Dynamics Injectors
340 AEM Fuel Pump
Grimspeed 3 Port Boost Controller
Borla Catback Exhaust & Mid-pipe

These are all the performance mods I have already installed and tuned for the car (I have super-sport)

I actually saw online that the 1000 ID injectors and 340 AEM pump are compatible with e85. The 450 pump is very affordable $50-$100 so might just go ahead and upgrade. So, I would just need fuel lines/filter.

Tomei Turbo MX8280 arrived today, going to check it out. Gotta get a down pipe and turbo manifold (oem one is cracked).

AYC pump light is on -- the notorious Evo X issue. Going to handle that next year. MLR Engineering sales a great kit for repair.
