*Official* don't like the X thread
The STI (note the new spelling - it's all uppercase now) looks like crap. I want no more new Subarus - I've already had two WRXs, and my car is already much faster than a stock STI, with further mod potential.
I was actually looking into the outgoing Evo IX RS. One dealership here claims to have some new units, but they look like a bit of a shady operation, making promises they rarely deliver on. So that's out, unfortunately.
If your post was meant in sarcasm, your effort is wasted. I am not speaking from the viewpoint of a Subaru fanboy. I am genuinely interested in the Evo X and think it will handle better than the new (or old) STI. But I am sincerely disappointed in how the car has been shaping up so far, and am not afraid to state that.

I agree with you, the GRS interior do look bad, I hope the MR looks better with leather recaros!
No input on the engine bay, but when i saw the Lancer's engine bay, there seem to be plenty of room to work in, but once again, its a lancer, not an Evo X.
evo X is a whole different animal, mitsubishi is targeting a different market. notice the car is not as radical in appearance as past models. it got heavier. it got a lot more convenience options like navi, cruise available, sst transmission. optional 18 inch wheels. a larger price tag. they are targeting a little older more affluent market. those who may have bought a lexus or a bmw 3 series. i just wish they would have left the lancer evo true to form and possibly invented a galant evolution for what they are trying to build.

I do like the older VR-4 Galants, those things are so sick
^ That hood scoop looks like it can swallow a whole cow. I've never understood why subaru insists on putting the intercooler on top of the engine where its hot and has no air flow coming except through that monstrosity.
You know, I like just about everything with the new X. I like the styling (vs. the old) the performance, features, etc...there's one thing I don't like. The price. Over on the "other" X forum, there's some salesman saying a loaded MR will run $45,000. That's forty five thousand dollars folks. Maybe not a direct competitor, but a G37 Sport runs ten thousand dollars less. LOADED, it's still five thousand dollars less. A 330i with no options is $40K retail. Honestly, I was ready to sell the VIII and purchase the X MR when available. But not for that sort of money. No way in hell. Aesthetically, it falls WELL short of what a $45K car should look like and it's real world, daily-driven performance is no better than the BMW or the Infiniti. So now I have to spend more for a car that aesthetically isn't as pleasing, doesn't carry the panache of the others, is no faster without serious mods, who's service and warranty aren't NEARLY on par with the others (I've waited for my dealer to warranty a new rear wing since JULY) and I'll have to deal with every neon, ahem, SRT-4 AND last generation Evo's revving on me everywhere I drive. I seriously hope that guy on the other was full of ****. But I'm not so sure. Mitsubishi, if you're listening, give me a GSR with SST, SSL and make it come in at under $36K. I don't need the chrome trim, the fancy wheels, the two-piece rotors or the Bilstein shocks. I can do all of that and more myself, probably for less money. For $45K, you're going to have to do better than the Evo X. Sorry, I'll be looking elsewhere.
IMHO it's really simple why many current Evo owners may not like the new X...because Mitsu didn't design the X for current Evo owners. They've come out and admitted it. They have a new target audience and designed the car appropriately for that new audience. It will be a great car for that audience. So, of course, many current Evo owners on this forum won't be happy with the new car because it wasn't designed with them in mind.
Have at it boys

I just feel nervous for Mitsu to take this approach with the Evo X. Just doesn't feel like a smart business decision.

Exactly. I AM that new demographic, middle aged with a decent amount of money. I could afford a loaded MR but looking at what else is offered in that range with equal or better "street" performance, I'd pass on a 40K+ Evo. I daily drive mine as a work vehicle now and while I enjoy it's performance, it's looks, interior, etc...is just getting old. Again, the new X is a HUGE improvement but I paid $31K for a loaded SSL and to get something equivalent, I'll have to shell out over $10K more in the new Evo.
