If I made 40k a year no way I would have a evo, I guess some people work for a car. Also I like the new evo but may go the GT-R ISF route but still not sure. I love cars but after having 6 nice sports cars they all lose money and are all a pain in the ***. Flip side they are fun

I don't see how someone making 40k a year could even afford an Evo IX. If they didnt have to pay any rent, I guess its possible.

You can't afford an Evo on 40k a year unless you are 22- living at home, have a roomie, or don't drink yourself silly every weekend.

I'm an "old" dude compared to many of the guys on here @37. Needless to say I don't have to worry about affording an Evo to two.

I'm always baffled when I see very young guys driving Evos. I figure most of them are spoiled brat kids of rich parents, but I suppose some people make big bucks before they reach 30. I sure wasn't.

My thought exactly, especially here in Los Angeles. The cost of living is so freakin high! When I was younger, I made the mistake of using all my disposable income on a car and regretted every minute of it after the novelty of a new car wore off. Fortunately now, i'm in a different position and can now afford a IX. I think if you asked Mitsu who they were maketing the car towards, they would say a 30-45 year old business men looking to have fun on the weekend.

I think we may want an expanded pole. 24+ is a bit too broad. It would be intersting to see what the break down in that group is.

evo is not a cheap car, so 30+ really would be the target market.

I read the sales binder when I ordered mine and they say the target demographic they expect to sell the car to are the late thirties to early forties dudes w double income, no kids, typically homeowners pulling down somewhere in the region of $110k cdn per houshold.

I found that spot on as that describes me pretty accurately.

There was more info, but I am old and can't remember the rest...

I'm 22 and bought my IX when I was 21. The Evo X is certainly meant to appeal to a broader demographic than the IX was. The interior and exterior are more refined inside and out. Personally speaking, I love the look of the IX, but alot of people I know who aren't car enthusiasts don't really think of it as a true sports car - purely based on looks alone. My dad, age 50, was extremely critical of the looks of my IX. After I showed him picks of the X, he thought it looked really good and said it was a car he would definitely buy on looks alone. "Much more European, aggressive, and grown up..." he said. As often as I disagree with my dad, I can't disagree with him on this one.

Hopefully this new Evo will get more older people to buy the car as it has to appeal to a larger audience for the future survival of MMC. I love the look of the X, but the car really isn't for me. Any car company moving upscale is going to inevitably alienate those that are truly hard-core enthusiasts - such as myself. I plan on holding onto the my IX for quite awhile until there is another car out there that can fill all of the performance specifications that I demand. Maybe it will be the X, maybe it won't. Time will tell.
