Yeah looks can be subjective but the car will probably be an impressive performing vehicle
That is surprising to hear that it doesnt look as good in person. I'll be seeing it in early january when I make my yearly treck to the Detroit show...I can't wait. Hopefully i'll be able to sit in one there.

As for that STI comment that I made: I wasn't talking about the performance parts being thrown together, I was talking about the styling parts being thrown together. It really does surprise me that Subaru would make the STI a hatch for the US, especially considering that hatches have never sold well. They might do well in Europe, but not here .

You stated what the public stated about 1000 times now, Yeah Hatches probably didnt do well in the past but, there are other hatches still alive in the market, matrix, gti, mazda hatches, i think the 135i will also be available in the hatch form, i dont think that holds true no more. I don't think Subaru's marketing team is filled with idiots that didn't do research about what would sell and what wouldn't. They get paid $$$ to do that.

Anyways Petter solberg had alot to do with why the STI is a hatch.

This is an STI i ill put money down on it right now that this thing will sell just as good as the sedan version from 04-07

Good, please do give me(us) your opinion. Not saying the X looks bad in person, but it does look better in the pix, IMHO.

Yup, Subarus have always had a problem with styling - just when you think they can't design an uglier car, they seem to rise to the challenge.

You might be amused by the nicknames the local community has given the various Subaru models. We've had the Impreza all the way from the GC line.

GC : "Slimeye" (sounds good and looks good)

GD 2002-2003 : "Bugeye" (this name is pretty standard, and the name says it all. Had one of these. The design is strictly for Herbie-lovers)

GD 2004-2005 : "Cockeye" (horrible sounding name, but (I think) the best looking of the modern Imprezas, all downhill from here. My current car.)

GD 2006-2007 : "Pignose" or "Hawkeye" (the first is a perfect fit with that weird Miss Piggy nose, but some owners got offended so they started calling it "Hawkeye")

2008- : ??? (the best suggestion I've heard so far is "Butt-face". Hope that moniker sticks. )

First off, the Mazda3 sedan outsells the hatch by a considerable margin every year. The Matrix and GTI have always been hatches and yes, have done pretty well. The 135i, however, will not be coming stateside in hatch form. There are idiots in every organization when it comes to marketing...Subaru is no less infalible than any other organization. Oh, and if Solberg had alot to do with the hatch, than I don't give much credit to Solberg. That car is hidious and the only reason it will sell as good as the sedan version is because the current sedan wrx is somehow almost uglier in a camry-esque sort of way.

I'll be sure to post my opinion. I have a feeling that it will look alot better once its dropped down about an inch. Those were some funny names for the imprezas. Honestly, I'd take any one of those imprezas over the current hatch or sedan (including the bugeye)...at least they had character.
