Sure it is. A Mazda RX-8 weighs in at 3053lbs. It has all the safety (front and side curtain airbags, tire pressure monitoring, dynamic stability control and traction control) and all the creature comforts (Navi, Bose, heated seats, power everything, sound deadening) and is very near the same dimensions as an Evo. Granted, it doesn't have AWD, but it still shows sports cars that can carry four adults can be made without weighing too much

Umm yeah it also uses a rotory motor... Doesn't have 4 full sized doors, you already said AWD which is kind of a big deal. So please stop compairing apples to oranges because one apple a day keeps the doctor away.

RX 8 specs
Horsepower, SAE net 232 @ 8,500
Torque, SAE net (lb./ft.) 159 @ 5,500
Redline 9000
Type Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD)

Evo X specs
Horsepower, SAE net 291
Torque, SAE net (lb./ft.) 300
Type All-Wheel Drive (AWD)

Yeah I'll take the X

I wasn't making a direct comparison between Evo and RX-8. I was answering the guys question about why cars can't be built to be lightweight anymore because of safety equipment. There are still lightweight sports cars on the market. The RX-8 is one example and they accomplished it through smart engineering.

I actually own an Evo IX and a 2006 RX-8. I would take the Evo over the RX-8 on most occasions. Although, the RX-8 is a fun car as well.
