4B1x Engine Family

Any information on what other Mitsubishi's will have a motor in the same family? I'm not sure what direction they're going with naming. I thought the 2nd character stood for the type of fuel (g=gas, d=diesel, r=race). What's B? BioEthanol? Maybe they just ran out of G#s with the 4G9x family and threw out their traditional naming conventions.

Regardless. I wonder if the other engines will supply us with stroker cranks, or blocks with higher deck heights, etc. With all eyes on the EvoX I'm wondering if anyone has noticed anything else coming up from Mitsubishi.

Here is a good read already:

Is it too soon for frankensteins yet? I wonder if they're even compatible. 97mm stroke would be pretty cool! 88mm bore would be too I guess. I wonder about the DOHC head being the same for the 2.4 engines and the 2.0 Evo engines

The 2nd letter used to refer to fuel type, but Mitsubishi has pretty much ditched that standard. There's a chance the B may be for mixed fuel, since I'm pretty sure the 4B11 in the Lancers can run on E85.

The only other engine in the family I've heard of so far is the 4B12, which is the new 2.4L engine. I'm sure, in non-US markets, there will be a 1.8L and 1.6L 4B1x series engine, as well.

Haven't found any substantiating information on the code, OR what other engines will come about in the future. The 11/12 is as much as I can find as well.
