Close up shots of the EVO X at the Phoenix Auto Show
I'm a horrible photographer... I know this. Below are the shots I got of the EVO X at the Motor Trend International Auto Show yesterday. BTW... I asked to sit inside the car, and got the typical "it's pre-production, sorry.". Then I asked him if he could do it for a current evo owner, to which he replied "i'll get the keys!". (The guys at Subaru let me sit in their pre-production STI as well, once I said I was an EVO owner... Strange the doors it opens up for you, eh?) I was pretty dissapointed with the X to be honest. I didn't like how soft the seats were compared to my VIII, however leg room has been greatly increased. I'm 6'5" and I have plenty of leg room. I still think there is not enough setting the EVO apart from the new lancer. I wish I could have snagged a shot of the motor... the one thing that popped out at me was the BOV. It was right front and center at the top of the motor. You have probably already seen every angle of the evo, but if not... enjoy. Oh, it looks like mitsu went super cheap this time, eliminating carbon fibre entirely from the wing. Ok, I'll shut up now!

Sorry, no pics of the STI. I assure you though, if you have seen the new WRX, the STI looks no different, save the larger brakes. I told the subaru rep "this is the most pathetic new car I have ever seen." The interior somewhat made up for the boring exterior, but the guy said the youngsters loved it. I swear to jebus, not 30 seconds later, a woman walked up to him and asked him if it was a hybrid. I said that's the problem with the styling... NOBODY should mistake a STI for a hybrid.

It would have made it all better if the Subie rep said, "yes, this is a hybrid, come look at the engine. *pops hood* Now, lean over the engine and i'll show you how it works *she leans over engine, subie rep then slams her head off of the motor until dead* So, who else thinks this is a hybrid?"

I don't know why, but I was surprised to see both the evo and the sti going with dual exhaust. I know I have sen it elsewhere, and read about it, but i'm with you... I prefer the single exhaust. The cars were too low for me to get a look, and well.... I didnt want to get trampled from passers by as I looked under the cars, but I wonder how the two companies are doing the systems. H pipe? X pipe? 4 cylinders dont usually see any performance boost from dual exhaust with the srt-4 being the notable exception.

well, every lancer other than the 8 and 9 had regular spoilers, and i think i read about some 8 or 9 spoilers clearcoat starting to peel, so maybe mitsu is going back to what works
Mitsu isn't going back to what works, they are going with whats cheap.
