I suppose there aren't many in the US crying that the IX is slower than the VI because we never had the VI!

I assure you it will not be more than this; I've talked to a number of different dealers, and this is pretty much what they've all said to expect. The GSR will come in around 32,500, and with sss package, navigation, and the aero package, you'll be at 37,000 tops. I've got a white GSR already preordered with all three options, and this is what my dealer has told me to roughly expect. I had to place a deposit down, but I made clear that this was dependant on the condition that he would guarantee that there will be no mark up... and he agreed. He promised me that the car will be msrp plus destination, and that's it. There will be no premium, but he says that the sticker price is non negotiable. I think that's fair, although you know he'll break when I am presented the final price of 37,000, and I say, "do it for 36,000 and I'll drive it home today." No one is stupid enough to throw away a sale that large over a thousand bucks, I assure you.
That's what I've heard too.

There's hardly a shortage of grand tourers on the market. How many homologation specials can you name? With the Evo and STi out, I can't name one.

i wasnt aware that nav was an option for the GSR !! is this a special order? I went by my local mitsu dealer and the manager logged on the the mitsu website in front of me, and he showed me what orders they had placed. They have 5 GSR and 5 MR on the way. Half of the GSR have the SSS package and half the MR have the technology package. Build dates for these were 12/4 12/5 and estimated arrival dates was 1/20/08. I saw this directly on the mitsubishi website where they place their orders. I was told that a $500 returnable deposit would grant me a spot to choose a car when they came in.

If thats the case, can i tell them to order me GSR with the SSS + NAV ???

Yes, you can get the nav system for the GSR. My dealer said that it was an option, and when he preordered my car, he showed me the receipt on his computer showing the options that I got with the car. If you want that as an option, then you'll probably have to put down additional $. The reason that it's not in a "package" for the GSR is because the main package for the GSR is the sight, sound, and spoiler package. The NAV system added in would limit the overall sales of the SSS package because it would become too expensive for some people. Since the MR already comes with the spoiler and HID headlights, they have to offer a package of some sort to the car, hence the TECH package. This includes the Rockford Fosgate sound system from the SSS package on the GSR, and adds in the NAV. But, every option is available on either model. Be warned, though, the SSS package on the GSR is a 2,000 dollar option, and the NAV adds about 1,500 to that. If you want the aero upgrade kit on either model, which consists of a front lip spoiler that's painted all the way across (give's the front a much more finished look, IMO), side skirt upgrades and rear quarter flares, you're looking at about an extra 500+. My GSR is coming in white with all of these options. Fully loaded is the only way to go.

there aren't really any anymore, other than the evo and the sti. And the STi is shakey b/c few teams actually rally the USDM STi.

NO WAY I buy buy an evo x if its even close to 40k. The 335i(coupe) is not much more than that, has better interior(that red leather package is unbelievable), build, luxury, is gorgeous, free maintenance for 4 years i believe, better warranty, and with i think $1500 you get 100ft.lbs/90hp reflash from vishnu tuning. I love the evo's looks, but if i cant get the gsr w/sss, aero pack. and nav. for 36k or the mr w/aero for 36.5 im gona save up a little bit longer for the 335 coupe

Thtats freakin awesome !! Im definitely gonna look into this with my local dealer.
i would love a black GSR with these options. Any clue what monthly payments would look like on a $38k car with a 750+ beacon score??

lets be realistic... there is no way mitsu will raise the price of their cars by 5k.

The worst prices people were paying for a 06 was around 37k... OK so add 2g's for navi and your at 39 MAXXXXXXX!

Remember the idea with this car was to increase sales volume ( make more money)... pricing it out of the market would do nothing except decrease sales.

You must know that their intended market went from the 30 yr old street racer to the 40 yr old matured enthusiast...don't you?

So then changing the price to suit the intended market makes sense if they don't want a 20-30 year old street racing punk driving their cars around. I've seen internal documents talking about just this aspect of the EVO X.
