^^Great point! After all the hoopla it seems that the EVO and STI are right back where they were with the previous models. It's up in the air about which one to choose and falls back on personal preference. You'd think that somebody would take the clear lead in this rivalry by now.

well one thing we know is that the JDM spec model is rated at 311lb-ft of torque while the stateside model is rated at 300lb-ft. the 280hp on the JDM car is just a rating because of the agreement between jdm automakers which doesn't make sense anymore since the STi's rated at 308hp out there, and the GT-R is rated at 480hp.

i think a lot of the slow testing speeds is due to the fact that magazine editors can't drive EVO's OR STi's. they drive vettes, Z's, accords, camry's, minivan's, and trucks all year, then once or twice they drive something like the EVO or STi. driving these cars twice a year is not going to yield good test results because driving these two isn't like driving anything else out there. you have to make major adjustments in your driving style if you're used to driving FF or FR cars to get the most out of those two. for example...i read an comparo of the EVO IX MR and 06 STi. both are 12 second cars bone stock with the right drivers. well the douchebags drove the EVO IX MR to a pitiful 5.3 second 0-60 and a 13.8 1/4 mile time while the STi came in at 5.7 and 14.1. then they went on to say that the only way they could achieve those acceleration numbers in the EVO was with the factory 2 step DISABLED...wtf????

couple that incompetence with the fact that the cars they are driving have the shifters on the wrong side, and you're bound to get terrible numbers. i'll be glad when these things hit the streets and REAL EVO drivers get a chance to show us what they can do.

another example is when those idiots at car and driver had that big super lap battle thing with all the different cars and the EVO IX MR, 350Z, and Cobalt SS were in the same group.... that article pissed me off so much because by reading what they were doing in the car you could tell they had no idea how to drive it. the proof was in the numbers. the cobalt SS had higher corner ENTRY AND corner EXIT speeds than both the EVO AND the Z on more than one corner. the Z also won the time attack battle. that's a load of crap. a stock Z will not beat an EVO around a road course unless the driver is ****. and a stock Cobalt SS damn sure won't come close to keeping up with it.
