I'm definitely going to stick to my VIII, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to go to the dealer and front like I want the X just so I can drive the hell out of it on a test drive.

I just got together with a few buds over the weekend and we were discussing the first time we took our Evo's out on the road. The excitement of knowing that you are now a proud owner of the long awaited Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. I traded in my 05 Subie 2.5rs and got hit for 5k for an 05 GSR. Damn it, it was worth every penny and til this day it was the best 5k loss. I've met a ton of cool people and continue to meet people which I now call friends because of this car. Attended a few car shows as well. The excitement of those shows were awesome! So this car has been very good to me. It will be with me for many years to come. It's my daily driver and just hit 60K and I'm continuing to enjoy it.

When I first looked at the X I told people that it reminded me of a volvo/mazda 6/something else. Now the looks are growing on me but not to the extent of wanting to get one. The next car I get will probably be a hyundai as a daily driver while my wife is off getting a G37 or something. The Evo VIII will become my project car and I would love to get my hands on an R33 or an R34(yeah right). I don't like what they did to the GT-R as well. Prefer the 99 GTR hands down. sorry.

So, those of you that are getting a X, good luck. Enjoy it, I will still flash my lights at you or a and don't void warranties fellas. It's the first release of this car. Peace

I will wait till next year and see what happens with the X. I love my IX, so for me to get rid of it, the X will have to totally impress me. Won't buy a first year model, so maybe next year I'll take a look and see what you guys on Evonet think of it at that time.

This came from TOPGEARS website.

"December 19, 2007
Form an orderly FQ
Now that's evolution. The soon-to-be-released Mitsubishi Evo X is set to be cheaper than the outgoing model.

Not quite as cheap as the new Impreza STI, mind: the entry-level FQ-300 Evo will cost £27,499 when it goes on sale in the spring of 2008.

That's some £2,500 more than the STi, and buys you a very similar amount of power: the turbocharged two-litre four-pot puts out 290bhp, which should see the Evo to 60mph in under five seconds.

If that's not enough grunt for you, Mitsubishi is offering two higher-power Evo Xs courtesy of tuning firm HKS.

The £30,499 FQ-330 gets a new ECU and breathing kit, including a Drager exhaust and upgraded catalyst, while the £35,499 FQ-360 adds even more power thanks to a tweaked ECU and new fuel pump assembly. This top-spec version also gets an aero kit and some swish leather.

We'll find out performance figures for both versions soon.

Neither the FQ-330 nor the FQ-360 will be available with Mitsubishi's new dual-clutch gearbox, though. The flappy-paddled SST is only available for the FQ-300, and will cost £31,999 on the higher-spec GSR version. All other Evo Xs will come with a five-speed manual transmission.

And, in good news for all those with no no-claims bonus (if you see what we mean), Mitsubishi boasts that the insurance group ratings for the X are the lowest they have ever been for the Evo. Which groups? 19A and 20A. Ah"

According to the article, sounds like the motor makes just as much power as the 4g63 with the same amount of mods. hmmm, interesting.

Yes that's good news. And I know they won't offer SST-equipped FQ330/FQ360 models initially, but it looks like HKS has a test car making 377 bhp with the SST, so it's not out of the question yet.

How exactly do you get an FQ that only makes 300hp... I thought Evos were underrated, do they detune it maybe?

This doesn't bode well for the amount of power the SST can handle.
