Picking up Evo X Cross Country Trip

I have a story for everyone, my name is Allen and I am leaving Ft Lauderdale airport with my wife Judy, and my buddy Brad and we will be flying into Los Angeles Airport

We will be picking up our fully loaded Graphite Grey Evolution X from Adrian & Mark at Huntington Beach Mitsubishi tomorrow 1/23/08 @ 2:30pm.
A11, NAV, SSS, AERO, ALM, WL.

Then heading back to Florida for a crazy getaway vacation / road trip.

We will take some great pictures in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Texas, Biloxi, and back home in south Florida.

I will post from the car, once we get the wireless card working with our laptop.

Let me tell you, so far the best service and best prices from Adrian. Great experience so far. More details to come tomorrow afternoon once the car is in our possession.

Feel free to email me any questions or suggestions for the drive back @ allen@acewolf.com

Thanks and wish us luck!
Allen, Judy & Brad

Have fun and welcome to the forum...but wow, a cross country trip with a brand new car? Yipes. You'll have 4k miles on it before you even get it home

(Might want to remove the email though for spam prevention lol)

Awesome! No better way to break in a new car that drive it cross-country in my opinion! I bought my Evo in Michigan and drove it back to Minnesota and every mile of the trip was great. If you see a modded black S2000 in Biloxi wave at it...thats my old one that made way for the Evo!

Just make sure to break it in properly, and to get the oil changed at 1K miles.
We got our 08 STi, in Denver and was a 600Mile(i know its not cross country), got the EVO in the south, and the old STi in TX. But staying under 4K and varying the RPM is not as easy as it sounds, esp in a brand new "sports" car

Enjoy.

Have fun,

As someone mentioned, you will want to break in the car correctly. With such a long highway trip, the easy thing would be to stick it in 5th and cruise home. But you will want to vary the RPM's quite a bit to break it in correctly. You don't want to go WOT but you do want to explore all RPM's in all gears. It's important to do this from the very first few miles.

Good luck

This may help in the dry weather.
But once the tape gets wet it will do more bad then good to the paint. We did this to the STi when driving back, and it did not help after it got wet.
