Why doesn't your dealership have demo vehicles for that very purpose?

Also, make sure to post the VIN number of the Evo X you do your test-drive in. Just so all EvoM users will know not to buy that specific car.
I really don't see the for all this towards benbob. As he has said they need to test drive the car to inspect it. You can't expect a dealer to sell a car with out test driving it then sell it to a customer who thinks they are getting a car with no problems. Any car you buy from a dealership will have multiple drives who have test driven them, whether they beat on it or not no one has any control over it. If you really want a brand new car that no one has driven or beat on. You're buying the wrong car go with Mercedes or Audi and pick up your new car right out of the factory showroom, and you can even drive it out of the showroom floor. Even with that said all cars are test driven from factory to dealership, hence the name "test drive".

Yeah, these evos already had 6 miles on one and 8 miles on the other. I barley put 1 mile on them. We have a cetain path we take for test drives, and it's just under a mile. No customers can test drive these either.
I work at a Mitsu/Vw store, and they're the same way with the R32.

I'm a tech. Salesmen, or ANYONE else beside us(and the new car manager) are not allowed to drive them. And trust me, they are upset about it. And we are required to drive it for the PDI(predelivery inspection). I bought my evo brand new from Don Hearing with 22 miles on it. It had 6 miles on it when it was unlaoded from the truck(accoring the the paparwork, but who knows if it's accurate) I KNOW that for those 16 miles, it was beat on at some point. I PROMISE you. EVERY new X will have been floored a few times before you ever see it.

I really don't know how you get off saying this. I was a car "tunner" long before I ever was a tech at a dealer, so I know both ends of the deal here. I remember how it was with my modded car taking it to the dealer worrying about warrenty. I remember being worried about it being ragged one while it was in for service.

Even if I DID hammer on it, you're right, I wouldn't be posting it all over the place.

Seems like you jumped the gun just a little on this one.
the first time the evo8 appeared in my town's dealership, the tech drove the car and true enough crashed the right fender while doing the PDI. so I don't believe you it is nice to be excited though

Seeing this thread, I would NEVER buy a car from Gene Messer VW/Mitsubishi knowing how the dealership employees treat the cars on the lot.
Apparently someone is really jealous

Wow dude, relax. EVERY car gets driven before the customer gets it. That's the way it is.

Does that mean every car is beaten? No...

Does it mean it can happen? Sure....

Every car is driven before you get it....deal with it.

lol my friend gave valet his chevy silverado ss and i was telling him that they exploit the fast cars on their way to parking. he insisted they wont because it was night. ok so, my this silverado SS got one hell of an exhaust and it is LOUD.
after we hand over the keys we head towards the building we going to (car show in miami) and the dude drives off nicely and my firend tells me.. "see!?!" i was amazed so w/e i stayed quiet and kept walking. then you hear the truck going into the back alley and OMFG since the buildingd were around it it had an echo effect LOL it was so loud. my friend looks at me and tells me "nothing else needs to be said" i just stayed quiet again but this time i smiled.

btw at the end of the night he didint tip the guy who brought back the truck LOL it was another dude. he was really fat so i dont think he could go fast. =)

so yea, never trust anyone if you got a fast car. they WILL floor it even if it's for a second.

dealer personel is different though. the car got no owner so if they do it its at their own risk and under some supervision normally. so yea they wont be doing crazy **** with them unless they own the dealer or w/e and i doubt those people would do this often. so yea all cars get driven before they are bought... no biggie. i rather have a tech drive it to make sure it works right before i buy it then run into problems. as a reward, sure, tech. take it for a spin, it's the elast i can do for ya after you made sure my future car works propperly.

Im sure the 10 mile beating that takes place at the dealer is only a very small fraction of the abuse its going to receive from its new owner. Although every motor should be properly broken in before any beating goes down.
