Just got back from seeing the X in person
Those cheap plastics are still better than some American cars that I have been in; Mustangs (before the redesign) and the new Pontiac G6. Which I thought had a nice interior, except for the door panels (my '03 OZ Rally had better quality plastics than that). As long as the interior feels the same, hopefully better than my OZ Rally, I'll be satisfied.
The interior of the X is horrid. Much worse than my VIII and the only reason why I would never consider trading my car in for one. The exterior is hotness, but I can't get over the bojangle steering wheel, ugly seats, giant 2 gauges sticking out of the dash, and weak-looking environment controls..
And i totally agree that some american cars do have cheap interiors BTW the cars is sexy in blue
Cheap plastics and a $40,000 price tag doesn't mix. The cars that are priced in that price range do not have cheap plastics. The only way that the X can get away with having cheap plastics at $40,000, Is to offer tons more performance than the other $40,000 cars. Sadly the X doesn't.
The Market is the what really dictates the value of a car and I can see the real-world bring the X's pricing down by about $5,000 after about 6 months. Who in their right mind would spend BMW money on a modified Lancer (complete with cheap plastics) that doesn't really outperform the BMW?

I just got back from there last night after work to check out the X in person. Looks really good and better than I expected to be. The white one w/ the kit looks sweet as hell, but unfortunately they were asking 36k or 38k for it I think.

Sure they have to lower the price by giving some sort of rebate, you still can see some new IX and sti selling in dealership. I still don’t see how they can put X into 40k car markets, probably 30k would be more appropriate
Wow, they got 30 Evo's in Nor Cal 2 weeks ago! Thats impresive. No wonder we cant get any cars in Oregon. We have only had 10 cars up here so far, and all sold except 2 so far. And they havent even been here a week yet. Granted, this is information from the dealer, and they arent known to be the honest types.
All we have for pricing on the MR is rumor. With the GSR + SSS package being $35K MSRP, I would expect the MR to be $36-37K. We could get a shock and see it be $39K, but I don't think it will be that high without the "Technology Package".
