Does anyone know what type of HID bulb the x uses? I'd be interested to know. Thanks!

It has to be a D2S, D2R are specifically for reflector based housings. I am also going to say they are 4300K as far as color temp goes.

Can you upgrade the bulbs only to 6000k? Or does it not work like that?

What would I need to get 6000k?

sweet thanks for the info! As for upgrading to 6000K you just need to swap the bulb that is it. Hope that helps DirectorSe7en

Didn't know that. Well the stock bulbs are not at blue as I would like at all. A buddy of mine, who i was following, told me the light looked the same as a reg halogen headlight.

HID color and Lumens performance

HID is my profession, you know you will loose output (lumens) the higher up you go on the Kelvin scale. 6000K bulbs produce only 80% of the light compared to 4200K / 4300 it gets worse from there on 8000K etc.

These stock HID headlights are much whiter than halogen. Halogen is about 3000K, these are 4200K. Blue and Purple bulbs are for the "ricer" look only. If thats what you want go for it and sacrifice lumens (quantity of light).

Only Asian (cheap junk) bulbs will be higher than 6000K. Osram makes a 5400K and Philips a 6000K, GE a 5100K. You also risk your ballast (failure) using cheap non OEM quality bulbs. Ballasts are expensive compared to the bulbs. If you insist on higher K color use only one of the 3 models/brands I listed above.

^That's what I'm saying. 6000K is a downgrade. 8000K is just retarded.
Ricer downgrade for the loss.

If you are going to change to a higher Kelvin than 4300k, I would suggest Phillips Ultinon bulbs which are either 5500k or 6000k. Beware of imitations!!!!!

Interesting that they didn't go to the D4S bulb/ballasts. Lots of new OEM HIDs come with these. They provide more light at lower starting wattages, longer life over D2S and mercury-free.
