Unhappy Tough sales month for Mitsu...

Sales are in for all auto manufacturers and January wasn't as bad as many predicted since the economy is in the crapper. The industry as a whole was only down 2.9%.

Mitsubishi, on the other hand, had it especially tough despite the Evo X beginning to arrive. Mitsu had the worst year-over-year sales decrease of ANY brand...-23%.

Not a good day in Cypress, Ca. Let's hope the X is the savior Mitsu needs it to be...

Damn, well I'm positive that when parts are available and more people attach to the X that they will be in demand.

.....Oh yea, and DROP THE DAMN MARK-UP!! NO-ONE IS GOING TO PAY 40K for a GSR!

The hope for there to be better deals on the X because of the poor sales can actually work for, or against, the guys looking to buy a X.

Scenario A: The dealers aren't selling any other cars, but they know the X will sell regardless. So, they decide not to sell it any lower than MSRP because it's their only chance to make money.

Scenario B: The dealers start to get desperate because they aren't selling any cars. They sell below MSRP on the X just to move cars off the lot.

Who knows what will happen???

I doubt you will see TOO much difference at a local dealership level. You might see more changes to the Mitsu based financing as they try to give more financing to those who normally couldn't afford it just to get htem to buy an mitsu.

i doubt the x will make much of a abump in sales, its not such a mass produced vehicle like all their other cars.

This isn't to weird seeing that when the economy turns to the crapper the middle class and lower class are affected the most. It crunches those two classes and the upper class goes on their merry way buying overpriced underperforming cars. There aren't that many "high rollers" looking to go to their 6 figure job in an evo

Actually, BMW and Mercedes have been outselling Mitsubishi every month for about 3 years in a row.

I think if mitsu advertised alot more what they have , it will help sales alot better. you never see very many tv commercials for the cars, just the dealer trying to always promote their ways to get you there. As for the evo, i have never seen more than one commercial for it. the new lancer seems to sell good where i work, there are two evo x's already sold. It is clear that mitsu is trying to reach a new group of people. hopefully this works
to regain customers back with new and old.

^You have to talk them down. Make them feel like your serious and you will get one if they work with you.

.....if they don't. Then screw then and it's their loss. Just bring this print out with you and say, how much lower do you want these %'s to go down?

Markup is localized to dealer and not the company and this is how they (dealer not company) make money. Dealer barely gives.....how company doing he want to fill only his pockets
