Be it as it may, the two cars are different trim level wise, as Steve from Top Level stated. No brembos, suspension, etc....

I would venture to guess that if you are going to be building a car, like some of the beasts that exist as shop cars around the boards, and some crazy owners (Ifarted2), I would say that the RA with a 5 speed (Im not sure if its an option) would be the best choice.

EvoM reviews stated somewhere in the Evo X review that tuners would prefer the 5 speed....that the new box is "Bomb Proof" Hehe...

I would also state Im not holding my breath on that account. But if Mitsu does "evolve" as its cars do, they've learned from the hellish mistakes of the 5th gear syncro issues and the shattered 4th gears on the 6 speeds.

Im not sure about the 4B11 but I would think logically, and economically, engineering two entirely different process' for a very similar vehicle would be a poor way to manage their money. But I dont know for sure.

I DO know the RA will be AWD and have a 235hp turbo motor. WHat else, Im unsure.

Yea, it's basically the replacement for the Evo X RS, IMO.

If you are buying an Evo for the reasons an Evo is an Evo, it makes no difference that there is the equivalent to a Mitsubishi base WRX in existance. However, if you are buying it for bling, street cred, or straight-line dominance, I can see how your heart would break...and if I were in that camp, I would seriously consider buying a Ralliart and making it fast in a straight line (assuming you can do that with the SST). I, for one, welcome the fact that people won't ooooooooh and aaaaaaaaaaaah at my car driving by, because it means less cops will bug me, which is always a good thing. Also, it will be more of a sleeper which is cool (although in these days of body kits and big wings on almost exclusively slow cars, the Evo is already a sleeper in that nobody expects such a ridiculous looking car to actually BE as fast as it is supposed to look...)

Since the X's target market has changed to a more "mature, sophisticated, refined etc" crowd, I guess Mitsu figured they would offer the younger enthusiasts another alternative, hence the Ralliart. Pricing alone determines this. Maybe it's just me, but that 's how I see it.

This sounds pretty bad ***. Wish we could have some sourceable information here though.

I think this is great marketing by Mitsu, for those who don't have the dough for a real evo, they should make a pretty penny on the new Ralliart.

so with a new cam, turbo, and remapping, the ralliart has exactly the same motor as evo owners...... kinda takes the appeal out of it in my book.....

the X actually doesnt have a huge huge gap over the ralliart (honeslty) i mean, the S-AYC is the HUGE advantage, a wider track, and a lighter body helps... but compared to earlier ralliarts vs. evo where there wasnt any comparison except chassis.....this time around, the ralliart truly is a baby evo...

i was pretty much set to trade my IX RS in when the new RS come stateside... but after reading about the ralliart.. it makes it harder to ditch the IX....and believe me.. im not a X hater! i love the new X...

i just felt like venting after reading the news
It's same difference from the WRX to the STI. Stop your whining....

^^^^ no crap! but obviously you missed the whole point.....

but STI owners really cant ***** all that much about the WRX, and neither can we becuase if it wasnt for the WRX, neither the STI or EVO would be stateside.... it was the first sport awd turbo sedan to be sold, and since it did so well, both subbie and mitsu saw this to be the opportunity to bring their flagships over......

but it falls in the same concept though as ive previously stated... you obviously read only the first post.. not the many to follow afterwards!

IMO, If you don't plan to track (except for 1/4 mile) your evo X the ralliart is a cheap alternative. The ralliart will get the straight line speed of an Evo quite easy. It will be very hard to match the evo's handling though. You wont be able to add the AYC without major mods including changing part of the trunk which probably also means different sub-frames.
