Wow, that's nice of SouthCoast Mitsubishi to lend them a car for a day to test it out. I don't really know what to think of that though. It was a good article and it makes me miss the Ortega Hwy. It's interesting that they had trouble chasing the R8.

That was a weird day. I'm sitting at the roadworks on Ortega waiting to go through and I thought to myself..hmm I'm going to see my first Evo X in the flesh today, when 2minutes later, low and behold what comes down the straight towards me followed by the R8...

I thought to myself, these two have to be together. I guess I was right.

Man that Audi is wide! First time seeing one of those in the flesh too.

Glad you had fun.

Well, there are a couple things to note. We really respected the fact that it was not our car and not broken in. Being this car was going to end up with a new owner and probably a member of this site, we were very easy on it. This meant no high reving, no flooring it. So whoever gets that car is not going to have any problems at all, and will be 300 miles closer to to the break in point. It was very nice of Abbas at Southcoast to lend us the car for a day.

While the R8 is a much faster car, the issue above did exaggerate this. Even still, the Audi is a supercar through and through and was far more competent in stock form than the evo including around corners which is the only place we could push the evo at all. Absolutely incredible car just as it should be for 130k. Though if we went to a course like Street and in a media car or our own, the difference would have been much less significant

Well that sounds good to me. I personally wouldn't mind if somebody that I trusted took my future car out for a day.... add to that the almost perfect break-in regimes that it was going through. (variable rpms, variable loads, light to moderate throttle settings, etc.) It wouldn't bother me at all.

I bet taking it up to the Streets of Willow and staging another comarison would have yeilded better results for the Evo X. Update us with that when it's broken in!

<----- That's where my avatar was shot btw.

Again, nice write up. Thanks.

We were originally scheduled to take a media car out to willow. When that fell through due to an unforeseeable issue, Southcoast offered one up to put around in. We are planning to be back later this month with both the MR and GSR at Streets. And this time they will be broken in media cars that can be put to the limits. We are also going to get Robi there with a lightly modified evo X to put down some comparison times

"and as such were skeptical of it’s affects"

Do you have a copy editor?

should be "its effects"

Sorry, I just thought I'd point it out, not trying to be a dick.

Like I said, I was not trying to be a dick, I was simply trying to help. Maybe you should attempt to not be a dick.

Woops...missed that one. I tend to make these mistakes a lot in my first draft. Usually catch them when reviewing the article, but missed it
