Evo X Wanting to be Pushed?
I have heard from some people that the X always wants to go fast as if its pushin u to push the car to the limits? Is this true or is the X comfy to drive at slow speed and not feel like it wants to be pushed all the time?
The Evo X is way more calm and refined than the previous Evo VIII and IX. I personally drive a VIII and anytime you get the turbo spooled up (3.5k rpms) It really wants to go so you need to learn good throttle control and to shift before it spools. It really wants to be pushed but the X is less on/off turbo Jekal/Hyde. So it is really more usable to cruise around.
Hmmm in my X I noticed it wants to be pusged during the corners.. it wants you to go faster and faster..
However in the straights, like, 0-60 the 1-4 gears are REALLY short and the car seems to loose its Oomph above 6000rpm.

I think that's more in somebodys mind then anything. Knowing they have a fast car and being tempted. Cars don't "want" anything. They don't have feelings, or emotions. As car enthusiasts, we make think they do
But really, they're just big hunks of metal and plastic. My mom could go take my VIII down the highway and drive it just like her Blazer and not notice the car "wanting to be pushed". To her it's just a loud car with a big wing.
It's all in your head. I do know what the feeling is like though. In your mind, you FEEL like the car just wants to go. It's hard to hold back at times. The turbo spools quick and the power is RIGHT there.
But anyway, it's in your head, not the car.

I think the power on my X comes in earlier than my 05 VIII...but falls off up top due to the boost taper. It also feels like it comes on much smoother, but to me is equally as abrupt. The extra torque down low makes it an easier car to putter around town with...IMO
The main reason the VIII/IX feels abrupt is because of turbo lag and then the sudden surge of power after your body doesn't expect it after you've hit the throttle.
I had a Probe GT Turbo back in the day which probably had earlier low end torque than the X because of it's small IHI turbo and it's displacement (2.2L), so I know how a turbo that comes on earlier feels.
The fact that you mention your X coming on early means that your car feels strong at lower rpms when you mash on the gas. Hence, very little turbo lag. Continuing to mash the gas makes the torque fall off and you don't feel the pull any longer.
When you mash the gas on an VIII/IX, because the turbo can't accelerate as fast, it seems sluggish until the turbo is up to speed.. by that time, the ECU has allowed the injectors to flood the combustion chamber with fuel and you get that sudden rush of power..

Makes Sense +1 Ty for ur help
Every car has a reaction response based on inputs from the gas pedal. I've owned several different turbo cars and some seemed like they "wanted to be pushed" whereas others seemed "lazy".
When we talk about this we are talking about the response of the engine with respect to small inputs from the gas pedal. In my MR2, the car doesn't seem to respond dramatically to me moving just an .5 inch or so on the gas pedal. The car isn't tuned and it shows. Contrast that with my VIII which has timing advanced like crazy, so any small fraction of an inch put down on the gas pedal gives an enormous response from the engine.
I think THIS is what the OP is talking about and definitely not in one's mind.
^^ Also helpfull but i am wondering about the X.. I wanted to know it it was the same as the 8-9 where it felt like the GTI commercials where the car always wanted to be pushed to its limits
Actually I disagree here... Let me explain.

Now I'm confused.. what do you mean by "always wanted to be pushed to it's limits?"
