LOL @ $7,995 markup
How many people have you suckered into paying way over MSRP with these lines?
....
I'm here to look at the Evo.
Sure, the MSRP is 32K, but you're not a true enthusiast unless you pay an extra 5K-20K..I need the extra commision...ya know.

...or it depends on how much disposable income you have.

yeh. Went to Mitsu dealer on 86th street and 16th Ave in Brooklyn, this Saturday. They had Fully loaded GSR without Navi with a sticker of $36-37.5 k forget, but on top of that they wanted $5k .. THey also said they are the first dealer in Tri-state to get them and they get more X than any other dealer in Tri-state .. Lol .. Also MR is coming out in couple of months as well according to him. When I told him its not true, and MR has been cancelled , he said I was mistaken and it will definitely come out in 2 months ... lol
I wouldn't mind paying 36K for an Evo, but no way in hell Im gonna pay any mark ups... Greedy bastards

I wouldn't pay anything over sticker, and that's pushing it. I paid MSRP for my VIII, but it took a lot of back-and-forth and walking away. Basically, they weren't budging on their price, so there their Evos sat collecting dust and more Evos next to them till there were like 16-18 on the lot, and none had sold since the first couple idiots who bought them sight unseen for unreasonable amounts just to have the first ones. They finally came down when they realized nobody was playing their silly little game. Has nothing to do with enthusiasm, but has everything to do with wasting money for a car. You aren't going to get ANY of that money back. If you get in an accident driving off the lot, guess what you are going to get? THE NADA VALUE which is LESS THAN STICKER! Yeah you can get gap insurance, but all that is is a good indication you paid too much for your car. It's basically insurance on cash you gave to the stealership outright such that if you DO need to get another one, they will pay your ridiculous markup for you again...
Oh yeah and another thing...with your stupid enthusiast rating system...no real enthusiast has ever lusted over a Lincoln...end of story case closed you sound like a damn car salesman...
The thing I don't understand about this discussion is...why the discussion? Who was really expecting EVO's to go without a marketing bump? These are high demand, low productions cars! And what fools thought they could negotiate them under sticker? Honda Odyssey's have been in North America for 13 years and you still can't buy them for less than sticker. Honda underproduces and Americans are lined up to buy them. And that's a friggin minivan! the EVO is a niche car made for a niche market (all of you). I'm sure the car will eventually trickle down to sticker price but it's not even available everywhere yet and people are complaining. LOL. They complain while real enthusiasts drive. I know it sucks, I've been there, but get real people.
People who have bought Lambos and Bentleys and even Porsches since forever, have paid over MSRP and not complained. Paying thousands extra for an in-demand car was a point of pride for me with my XD (as were all the thousands in mods). Everyone was like, "wow, how'd you get that?" Why are there people here griping about dealership scams instead of saying, "I know I can't afford it yet but I give props to those can."
Scroll to bottom of page. All of their Evos are nearly $2k under MSRP. These prices are as of today, not 6 months after the hype of a newly-released, limited-production vehicle. If I were you, I wouldn't let anyone test drive one of those Evos your dealership may have. If I was on the east coast, I'd buy from South Coast Mitsu and have it shipped or even fly down to drive the damn thing across the country. It would certainly beat paying a ridiculous price for a Mitsubishi. It's not a Lambo, Bentley, or Porsche … South Coast Mitsu apparently knows this.
Your tiered description of an enthusiast is hilarious. It should have been Real Idiots, True Idiots, Idiot In Training and Idiots In Name Definitely. I'd like to say "no offense," but I wouldn't be telling the truth. You were talking about Hyundais right?!?!
There are a number of dealerships on the east coast I have been talking to that are interested in becoming vendors and offering member pricing, none over msrp. Just a matter of them actually signing up. I tell every single dealer that is interested in signing up that if the plan on selling over MSRP they are wasting their time. I also heavily advise them to work on having a evo friendly service department
The dealer markup is for the dealers to make money. Mitsubishi doesn't make any more money for this.
You consider 5k as just an incentive to get a car in high demand (which it really isn't). This is ok for people who can buy the car in cash upfront. But there are a couple of drastic things people need to look at:
1) The car will fall in value from MSRP. NOT from dealer markup. So you lose big there if you decide to trade it in.
2) If you are borrowing the money to get the car, you just paid an extra $10k or more for a 5k markup due to finance charges over 5 or so years. Talk about the most inefficient way of getting value for your dollar...
I'm sorry, no car is worth a penny over MSRP. It's like you paying $1,000 for a Nintendo Wii in a Walmart when it should only cost the buyer $249.99. If the insurance companies or resale market don't accept the mark-ups into the overall value of the car - neither should we.

My first stop after graduation might be SoCal...
I can't wait for the day these dealers sign up! I'm on the verge of flying out to South Coast and driving one home (or having them ship one to me) because the savings are truly unbelievable. When you see the prices out here on the right coast and you hear stories about west coast deals, it really seems too good to be true.

To drive it back, it will take about 3 days + tickets+ hotel + gas+ extra miles on the car. Just pay the 7-$900 for shipping and call it the day.
