Evo X or one of the one models...

O.K. guys, I'm still indecisive about getting the Evo X because of the price. If I do decide to get the Evo X, it will be my first Evo and I might have to wait until next year to get one. So I'm think if I do get one of the older models to start out with, I can build myself up to the Evo X or what's ever is out by then. But I really ike Evo X because of how it looks, the way it takes in mods really well, and how I think it's more geared up for short runs like city driving and suburbs, which where I am mostly. I'm looking for something I can use daily life as a college student and for occasional corner ripping on the streets. I found an Evo VIII in one of the dealers here in Texas with 31K+ miles on it. I don't know if I should get one or wait. Any help you can get to get over this split will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

First off I would like to say that your english is terrible. Now on to topic, what is your budget? How much are you looking to spend give or take a few thousand. Would you mind traveling at all to get the car, or must it be located in Texas. If in texas, where at?

As far as the model, im in the same boat as you are. I don't know which evo im going with, but the X is sounding more and more tempting.

The way I see it is, if the car is going to be a daily driver, something your not only using on the track, but every day for driving to class, chilling with friends and family, and getting to and from work, then the X is the best bet.

But, thats just my 2 cents, I will probably get the X within the next week or so, it just all depends on what I decided when I finish my research.

Sorry for the English... It's like 3 a.m. here. I know where you are going at about the best deals for the Evo X. I got a good offer from Sam at SOCALMITSU and a better offer of $100 less from Rick of Lewisville Mitsubishi here in Texas. I just found an Evo IX MR at Lewisville Mitsubishi with 11K+ miles on it.

As for the the model, I'm basically trying to get a very basic GSR. Which every time I read about it in this forum, it gets more tempting. I'm just trying to get it as low as possible of a budget of $300 - $400 monthly or lower. I'm a full time student with a part time job at Circuit City, so you can guess why I'm so indecisive.

Your right about the X being my best bet for what I'm going to use it. It has a nice low end rev for short runs and for occasional cornering. As for the older models, correct me if I'm wrong, they shine more in the higher end revs...

How old are you? Have you gotten an insurance quote yet? No offense, but a part time job at CC isn't going to cut a $400 payment with a $200 insurance bill. Also the X isn't possible in the 400/monthly payment range unless you have a 20k down payment. I almost bought a 03 VIII last year for 17k, my payments would've been 287 a month; I think you should look for a high mileage Evo VIII/IX in the <20k range.

My advice is don't put yourself into total debt for a car...It won't make you happy if you are poor. On my 03 Evo I put 4k down, had a great interest rate, and payments were still over $500 / month. also expect $1000+ / year insurance (and more likely $1500 / year if you are young). On a 5 year loan you can probably expect somewhere around $100 / month for every $5k financed.

If you want a used Evo plenty are around. I even have one for sale.

Yeap.

I've fought with myself over this new trend for buying the latest and greatest for some time now. My 8 is the first new car I've ever had and I JUST finished paying it off and picking up a rare MR2. I was EAGERLY waiting to get that extra money back into my pocket. And now the X comes out. I have 2 choices. Tick off my wife and trade in my 8 only to get back into debt for another few years on top of modding it to make it just as fast. Or keep what I have and be content and save the money for something more important. I am choosing the latter because it's the more responsible of the two. We can't (at least I can't) change cars everytime a new hit comes out. It's just not financially practical.

if your doing alot of city driving and daily grinds I'd say for you to save up and get an X ... The older evo's may not lose too much if you sell go the right person but I think the X would b what you'd ultimatley want

You guys don't have to tell me about the math because I've done it all countless times in different scenarios. I know that with my CC part time job, I'm not going to be able to afford it monthly. That's why I said that "If I do decide to get the Evo X,.... I might have to wait until next year to get one." I'm just trying to get some perspective if the Evo X would be the right one to buy for what I'm going to use it and considering that it will be my first Evo. Whichever Evo I'm going to get will eventually get mod with the basics.
