Drove the GSR X for a few hours!

First off, to the people who said the car has lost a step because its "more mature" and heavier are insane. Thats like saying Adriana Lima is ugly cause she gained a few pounds. I drove the GSR version of the X all over for a few hours. On the streets, on the highway, on a closed off road, in empty parking lots etc..Trust me, it kicks just as much *** as the previous gen!

The only SLIGHT difference power wise is at takeoff. In the previous versions (as you know) the turbo boost was so insane, it felt like you might lose control in 1st gear if not paying full attention. It is more subtle now thanks to the 5500 rev limiter in 1st gear but it still doesnt slouch by any means. The turbo pull feels strong in all 5 gears up to redline though. Drop it into 2nd around 50 mph, get on it and it still feels like you are being shot from a cannon. You can also feel the new S-AWC system. I would never do this on a road with traffic but I really played around with it on the closed road I snuck on to. Cornering, handling, braking etc...everything is top notch and even better than previous versions which is hard to believe.

As much as I love my Mustang, I feel the Evo X is probably the most complete, out of the box race car you can get for $32k. Great power, Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, one of the best AWD systems ever made and a pretty decent interior. Especially considering how easy these new ones are taking to mods. People are getting 350-360 whp with a simple tune and exhaust. I really love this car!

That what I just read from Motor Trend when I got back home and it sure felt like it when driving it. I wanted to know why it didnt feel as strong in 1st as my VIII did, so I looked up some reviews. Believe me, it still has plenty of punch even with it.

This is wrong then?

From Motor Trend's First Drive review:

"The TC-SST prototype we drove limits output at launch, making the five-speed the one to have for drag racing (but even that's held back by a 5500-rpm limiter in first to preserve the transmission."

I would say that's a launch limiter, not a gear limiter

Yep that's exactly what it is. The IX is rev limited in certain countries too to 5500rpm.
