Turbo timer question

Has anyone put a turbo timer on the X yet. If so what type?
Plus will the turbo timer harness from the IX and VIII fit the X.

For whatever reason, it seems that former honda owners ask this question along with the usual "what bov should I buy" question. The answer is that they are both a gimick and a waste of money because they simply aren't needed on factory turbocharged cars... they are simply extra weight in my opinion. If they were needed, then they would be installed from the factory. Thankfully, the engineers from Mitsubishi, Subaru, Dodge, Ford, Chevy, Volvo, BMW, etc. know a thing or two about cooling their turbo's so don't worry about having a car that continues to run after you've come off of your hot lap down your local neighborhood street. Fast and Furious is ghey by the way.

I was being sarcastic my man. What I was trying to convey (albeit sarcastically) is that your turbo doesn't get exactly red hot from your typical commute, and especially after you drive down your residential street to your house. Your turbo has had plenty of time to sufficiently cool down. For a daily driven Evo with a stock turbo a turbo timer is simply a gadget that's almost there to serve as a conversational peice. I don't know a top tuner that uses or recommends one.

Now if you're running track days with a GT-35R or something to that effect that goes beyond the factory equipment, then a turbo timer may not be a bad buy. That said, even if I came off of a track session or a mountain road where I was under wot for an extended period of time, then I would simply take it easy for the last few mintues to cool things off before I shut the engine off.

I was just poking fun with the Fast and Furious comment. I was being racist to the honda stereotype.

And what a conversation starter. That in itself justifies the purchase!

...And I'm NOT being sarcastic!

but what if you have a stock turbo but aftermarket parts and "run" the car,..... so basiclly if you wait a min or so extra b4 shutting the car down thats the same thing??

I don't care if a Turbo Timer is needed or not. I just have the added peace of mind that maybe my Turbo will last longer with the car cooling down for a minute of so. It can't hurt right??

Actually the turbo timer IMO is a great investment... given I have a 37R but before I had that I used one for my VIII... sure a stock turbo may not need it.. but you can get the stock turbo with mild upgrades to glow almost white if you seriously put it through its paces or do go racing down the 1/4. You can set the turbo timer up to go off an average of run time of the car how hard it was driven and gentle driving back home... on average my car runs for like 30 or 40 seconds maximum. To each their own but thats my .02
