You use the regular key to unlock the door.

:/

Yes it does on the driver side only. If the fob is dead, you can pull the key out of the remote and start the car.

Ha, I know right...

The vette has a key lock underneath the trunk, very inconspicuous... you just pop the trunk, then pull the mechanical lever to unlock the doors, pretty neat.

im pretty sure it does. being suspicious of electronic gimmicks such as this, I was skeptice at first too. you just take the fob out, and stick the key in. the key is actually inside the remote. I had the sales-man demontrate this before i was swindled into the sss pkg.

the remote's battery is a conventional battery you can get at most electronics store.

The JDM X's have a push button start and a dock for the key fob. This can be retrofitted to usdm X'S and its relativly inexpensive. And when the battery dies all you do is pull the key out the fob remove the dummy key on the column and the key hole is behind it. And as far as MS6 key fobs its easy to wash those because there like a credit card very thin and about the size of one. And there about 500 a piece plus an hour labor to program and cut. Www.japanparts.com has all the JDM X stuff like the push button and key dock so you can take it out of your pocket and charge it.

Wait... What happens if your battery dies? How do you get into the car? You won't be able to jump/charge the battery without popping the trunk...

How hard is the retrofit? Is it just plug and play? I see the engine start button on the site but no dock? Does it come with the kit? What exaclty does the dock do I'm confused?

The dock just allows the unit to charge and be kept in a safe location. It might do something more with the ecu or whatever but I'm not totaly fluent with the x yet I'm trying to get an FSM to find out but it won't download. As far as plug and play it should be if not it should just be a splice of ign run, ground. And a light source. That's pretty straight forward. The dock should be on there my sidekick sucks so I have to get on a comp later. I think the docks are cool I'm gonna get one (if there still on there).

^^^ Yeah, I would like more information on this one myself. Maybe we should get Vivid Racing to investigate this since they do a lot of JDM stuff.

Woops I miss understood I glanced over the first time and thought the key holder which is a leather case was the dock. Lol sorry I looked over it again and there's a **** ton of sweet jdm stuff for the x on there like led interioir accent lights the weighted shift knob, and all the aero stuff o and the fog light kit. I think 263$ isn't bad for a factory push button start I'd paint that silver bezil it comes with black tho

Where does it mount? Were you able to get a pretty accurate guess for that?

I think the fast key is a nice feature, but I'd still go with a regular key. I was on the Lexus forums and read some guy parked next to a camrey and he was not able to start his car because it said "key was not detected" he then but the fob right up to the ignition and the car started but died right away. Lexus is not alone I've seen problems with lancers, and infinity. Maybe after they fix all the little bugs with the system I'll eventually use it but as of now I'm fine with the "old school" method of using a remote to unlock the car.
