Stock turbo limits
Stock turbo limits
So after reading the reviews of the parts alredy made for the X and it hitting 330 with the stock FMIC from the boys from JNZ tuning. I'd like to hear some other guesses as to just how far the stock turbo could be pushed power wise. I'd love to see 400 with an FMIC and a solid tune! I know these cars are running pig rich and a tune would solve that problem and get a little better MPG!

We won't know until we get something to tune the car with.
But I will give you my guestimate anyway.....
I say it will approach 375/380whp on pump, and 400+whp on meth/race gas. I do believe this engine makes slightly more power at these levels than the 4G63....especially since the X turbo is smaller.

I'm in line with this to slightly higher.
There's still (educated guessing here) 40 or so whp in the ECU once we're able to get in there and remap it (10.0 AFRs are definitely not helping).
So between that and the gains people are seeing from an aftermarket IC, I think the slightly sub-to-400 range is not that out of the question.
We'll have the core here shortly and see where our particular car gains on the same dyno (independent dyno).

The 8 and 9 turbos do not outflow the x turbo. Check next months turbo issue tomei does part2 of a write up on the turbos. And for those looking for something diff the jdm x rs turbo uses an inconel turbine wheel instead of Ti in the usdm turbo. And I think the specs are a tadddd different on the rs turbo.

How does the cover of the mag look like?
Part one is like red I don't know what cars on it but like the covers all red. Part 2 is not out yet. The issue on news stands now has a mitsubishi tec write up on the x. It talks a lot about the changes made and how the focus was clean emmisions :-(. Particularly in the turbo articles I got that the x turbos is like a jdm9mr turbo. Basically the same thing. If I remeber correctly tho mitsu doesn't publish compressor maps, I don't know tho, any one know?
EDIT: sorry after reading my post I realixed it wasn't very clear. The turbo issue out now is red and has part one of two of a tech article writen on tomeis reverse engineering of the 4b11. Part 2 is next month. The current issue also has a tech writeup written with all of mitsubishis published tech info on the X. As we'll as the jdm X info like the RS. Hope that clears it up.
