This is great news actually! I am really glad we are getting the 5 year, instead of the basic 3. I was very disappointed that they reduced it from the 10 year that they went to in 2004.

KEEP THE LETTER.

If my letter was a mistake, I don't want the car! A f-cking hat will not do it for me!

Also, as to the definintion of Modding, they can only deny your claim if they can demonstrate that the mod caused the failure. So, if you put on seat covers, or change the stereo, it has nothing to do with frying a gear or a turbo.

The interesting thing is how you deal with mods that protect the turbo, like turbo timers. Would they rather we add the timer to protect the turbo's from cooking, or would they rather we leave them stock and replace them every summer?

I don't know. All I know is my X is pure stock. I will follow their maint schedule to the tee, and I will enjoy my 10/100 warranty with gusto!

cant they claim the wires somehow changed the ecu, that made the motor blow up?

If it means an extra 7 years warrantee, I can live with stock everything. No aftermarket air fresheners or anything

Should I laminate the letter or frame it? I should PDF it as my new avatar for EvolutionM.net!

I got an offer to sell my Evo X yesterday, and I turned it down because of this revised warrantee. If it turns out that the letter is in error, I passed up an opportunity to sell based on my reliance on the letter.
Why do you keep acting like you want to sell the car? Why the **** did you even buy it? You obviously didn't buy it for the performance, which is the whole reason for buying an EVO. If you bought the car for the warranty and don't want it unless you get the 10/100 deal then go ahead and sell it because you obviously don't appreciate the car for what it is. I hear KIA has some great warranties right now, maybe you should buy one of those. Not trying to be rude, but whining about the warranty is stupid with a car like this, especially from Mitsubishi. All that having the 10 year warranty vs the 5 year warranty means is that for an additional 5 years Mitsubishi will deny you warranty coverage based on "abuse," or whatever BS reason they come up when you bring the car in.

Oh and BTW, I have insurance with GEICO and for only a small amount of money I got the vehicle breakdown plan that gives me a 7 year/100k mile warranty on the car through them for ANYTHING that goes wrong with the car. From stereo to tranny, I'm covered, and covered by a company that unlike mitsubishi will actually cover my mitsubishi. I have full coverage plus this program and I only pay 690 every 6 months. For an EVO, and a new one at that, that's a good deal. That's what being 26 and having a credit score of 801 will get you.

I just talked to the guy at south coast. He said that the letter was a mistake and that they had the warranty from the regular lancer on the letter. He also said that mitsubishi is now sending out letters of retraction. That sucks. I bought mine thinking I would get the 10y 100k warranty as well. Oh well, based on their product offering besides the evo my guess is mitsu pulls out of north america before my 3y 36k is up. lol

I got the apology letter today stating it was a misprint, the warranty is only the 3 year / 36k mile. They did provide me with a nifty coupon for a free oil change and tire rotation, nice.

WOW! Good for you chief! Your rambling on never ceases to amaze me. If I was to go through all of your incoherent post I am sure I could right a short story of your life. I would probably call it: STi2EvoX-The Saga of one very confused young man.

Oh and BTW I am 23 my credits better, I pay less for insurance, and I have a 100k Warranty.

The letter was an offer. If you registered on their site and completed their survey, you get the extension.

They can have their shorter warranty when they pry the letter from my cold hand.
