Im like - THIS CLOSE to buying an Octane blue too... What do I do...
shop around for cheaper insurance, and if you cant find anything better then don't get it. that wouldn't be a good financial decision thats for sure.

As I said before..Im a college student =P Im not 16!
And NO the Evo X does not run 38k++ even out the door...Unless you live in the East Coast or went through a ****ty dealership lol Take 7-8k off that and thats the price I would get mine for..

Yes I know what you mean, It would be stupid to pay 700 a month for insurance albeit the Evo is my #1 Car I wanted.. The 1 series here is stupidly priced because all are loaded and only come in Auto unless I special order mine.

You are getting ripped off somewhere. Car insurance should be 100-200 per month. 200 if you are young and have a few tickets.

I run my insurance thru progressive cuz im lazy and havent needed to change insurance.... full coverage on mine is only 180 a month with a 500 deductible. I know i could get it cheaper somewhere else.. but hell its still cheaper than what i pay for same coverages on my tiburon and that car is half the price of my evo x

You better call around, $700 a month is just insane. Are you sure they did'nt mean $700 for 6 month?. I cant see it costing this much My baby brother who is in college with 1 speeding ticket and 1 DUI is only paying $250-per month for his EVO-8

I have full coverage with a $200 deductible, I pay $720 -Per year or $64 per month if I pay monthly , I'm with Allstate insurance.

yeah dude... my insurance is 550 a month with the x... but i wecked an evo 9 and have 1 speeding ticket...700 for you is just insane... im sorry to say it and i dont mean so sound like a spoiled brat..but the only way to own an evo that young is to have your parents pay for it all... if not... your gonna be working 2 jobs full time just to pay for your car + insurance...and honesty i dont think any car is worth that much of your time.

Thanks for all the replies.
I have gotten into one accident but no speeding tickets. We haven't actually called our insurance company but we went to a dealer (Not the same dealer we are buying the car from) and they checked up my insurance stuff and said it would cost 700 a month. I am going to call my company today and ask them once more...
I doubt the Evo will be 100-200 a month for me, since I pay 350 for an RX8.

It all depends man. 2dr vs 4dr can make a big diff on insurance. My insurance actually went DOWN from a 2004 N/A Lancer Ralliart from 160.00 to 140.00 when I picked up the Evo because its a newer car and I guess it's safer heh. I have a ticket still on my record too, but I'm nearly 30 years old now, which helps. Yes this is an incredibly useful post. You're welcome.

I was told Octane Blue was exclusive for this year too. Wasn't the only reason why I bought it though. For reference, I'm 19 years old, one accident <$1000 damage 2 years ago, no tickets, $120/month for full coverage, roadside assistance, rental car, etc. $500 deductible.

Ehh.. you might get it for $31K on a base model before taxes and license.. but your out the door will still be $35-36K.

You need to call your insurance agent and ask them what it will cost. Don't believe anything you hear from a 3rd party, especially a dealer. They were probably trying to 'scare' you with the big insurance and then try to slide you into a base Lancer so they could still get a sale. I had a dealer try the same thing when I was looking to get my STi, they tried to say my insurance would be $OMG/mo and then tried to push me into a WRX. (In my case the STi only cost $40 more a year to insure, a fact I knew before I even went to the dealership since I wanted to know all my costs for the car before I bought it.)

Also you said you had already paid the insurance company and you were 'stuck' with them. That's simply not true, you can switch your insurance to another carrier and your old insurance company will refund you the prorated amount back.

You haven't said what you driving record is like yet so if it REALLY would cost you $700/mo to insure the X don't do it. When I was 17/18 I wanted an Integra GSR. I was set on getting one and I almost did. The payment and insurance ($2800/yr) would have been insane. I went to college and I was so thankful I didn't have a shiny new car since the parking lots on campus were tiny and the car I had got all sorts of dinged up. I was also a poor college student.

I waited and after college got my STi. It was great and it's probably something I couldn't have done if I had gotten the GS-R. While you make think the current X is the OMG car you have to have there will always be something newer down the line that you have to have and you'll forget all about the original car you thought you needed to have.

Actually a Ferrari would probably be less to insure since you don't see many on the road and there are quite fewer crashes in Ferrari's than EVO"s....I do believe it is the same for Corvette's..They would be less to insure than the Evo's...not 100% sure

Thanks....
I just called my insurance company and they gave me a quote of 500 a month. Which is wayyyyyyyyyyy better than 700 haha I guess the dealer tried to scare us.
Before I looked into Mitsubishi I remember I went to Renicks Subaru and the guy named Alan or something tried to scare me away from the STi. He said the cars price fluctuates depending on "Managers Feeling of the day", and said today was a good day so he would give me 200 dollars off. He then rambled and said he knew I was looking into buying an Evo or STi to be different? ( ) so he said the truly different and POWERFUL car was the Legacy Spec B. He was obviously trying to sell me a car that didn't sell too well because he added a bunch of BS...saying stuff like it was faster than the STi with an easy small tune..

Anyways I think I will either pick up the Evo X or 9 soon! Unsure about the color though...
