I do have the kit. Caused no problems. I can see how in some levels of snow it can push the snow but it really wouldn't cause any harm. Also, I drove the families RX300 4x4 SUV and the EVO X handles the snow much better even with the unfriendly for winter Advan tires.

If you wanna throw winter tires on a stock X wheel they are 245/40/18, but its always better going with a skinnier tire for snow, so I would go with a 235/40/18 for better performance in snow.

I would suggest nothing but some Brigestone Blizzaks or if they have them some Michelain X ICE. I drive on ****ty winter tires and they grip like a ****. I couldn't even imagine those 2 tires let alone on an AWD car!

I have a set of Winter Sport M3s on my Si, and they're amazing tires. The wet and dry traction is a step above the Blizzaks I've used previously, and they don't seem to give up much to them in the snow either. Unless you're basically buried in snow the entire winter, I'd highly recommend a set of these Dunlops.

I think Bridgestone also makes a subset of the Blizzak brand they call the LM-25 that offers a similar compromise between snow and wet/dry performance that's worth a look.

I'm in the market for a winter set to swap out prety soon.

I'd like to purchase the follwing directly from tirerack.com:

18x9.5 Kazera KZ-A Flat Black; w/
235/40R18 XL Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 Blackwall

I really like the stock wheels...so im not going overboard (like i usually do) w/ the winter set. are these cheap rims ok? is it ok im going with the 9.5s and 235?

thank you,
John

i think 9.5 with 235s is a bit skinny on the wheel size.

You can get Rota wheels for 7-800... Talk to WheelDude on here (or www.wheeldude.com).

whoa...why is ther such a huge difference in price?

i've seen 750 a piece, i've been quoted at 1300 for a set, now i see this? talk about extremes. this seems more than ideal.

I am thinking about buying some Hankook Icebear W300 for $186 each for my Evo X.
I had them on my 03 Evo 8 and they ran great every winter.

I asked a guy with a blue gsr in Fort McMurray, Alberta how it did with the blizzaks he had on it. I was kind of wondering if the wider low profile tire and the stiffer suspension affected the capability, but he said it ran awesome all winter long.

just need a second set of wheels- the one thing I like about my old wrx was that the all seasons never came off.

The results on the TireRack survey match up with my experiences with snow tires: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...sp?type=W&VT=C The Dunlops are simply a step better than the Blizzaks in every regard.

An Evo with a proper set of winter tires is the most fun you can have on the streets.
